Allen Millyard Kawasaki Z1B 900 Engine Repair

Post by Lutin »

That man Millyard is at it again. This time he's after repairing a Kawasaki Z1B 900 engine. The first video in the series is, of course, the engine strip down -

Caution - contains Henry Cole (although, thankfully, only briefly)

Didn't think it really fit in with PG's Mega youtube thread.

I can't watch the video at work, so I don't know what he found, but unless it's been abused I wouldn't have thought he'd have found much, probably cam chain and the guides and maybe a rebore, while you're in there you might as well replace the cam bearings as a whole set is about £100 and clean up the valves.
The Athena gasket sets are good and cost about £70, the genuine gaskets would be at least double that.

That brings the memories back. I travelled the same path with my Z1a and GPZ900R engine strips.

As ever,Millyard makes it all look so effortless.

They're a lovely engine to work on, who ever designed it thought about how to take it apart and put it back together, I can't think of any thing on them that's awkward to do.

Had my hands on so many I haven't needed the manual for about 30 years.
