I guess it depends how many of the iPhone-specific features you currently rely on. I think about giving Android a try every year or so, but I'd miss all the little things that connect my various devices. I'm well aware that I'm a slave to 'the ecosystem', but it works in my favour so it's not necessarily bad.
In most day-to-day stuff, iOS and Android will be much the same. Mail, web, photos, Facebook etc etc, all much of a muchness. There are plenty of good things about an iPhone that would beat most Android phones (general performance, speed, camera quality etc), but that's because it's a high-end, expensive phone. You can get the same from high-end, expensive Android phones of course, so as long as you're comparing like-for-like then they're roughly even.
The iOS-specific stuff that I like would be, off the top of my head (and I have no idea how well Android competes on these at all):
- Copy and paste between everything. As someone using a Mac all day with an iPhone (and iPad), being able to copy and paste seamlessly is useful
- Getting phone confirmation codes sent to browser. If I try to log into a website and get sent a confirmation code to my phone then it'll just auto-complete in the desktop browser, and delete the text.
- Using face recongition on phone to access secure websites on desktop. More usually, I don't need this as I have the watch too, so that always unlocks everything, but if you don't have one then the phone does it.
- Airdrop. We all have iPhones in the family and so sending files to each other, or between phone/Mac etc is seamless.
- I have Apple TVs too, and the phone will automatically pull up a keyboard whenever the TV wants you to enter text.
- Syncing of everything. My phone and desktop/laptop/iPad are essentially all one, so all files, photos, logons, passwords etc are always in sync with each. Take a photo on my phone, it appears in my Mac photo library
- Video linking between phone and Mac. I can use my phone as an external display for my Mac or beam my phone screen onto the mac or TV. No setup, apps, cables or latency.
- Use my phone as a webcam. In any video conf app I can just select my phone and use that if I want a (far) better webcam, or need to have a handheld one.
- Device tracking. All apple devices can be tracked together to save losing anything, including children.
- The night mode. When on its side and charging, it goes into an alarm clock mode with lots of customisation for clock styles and widgets. Optionally changes to a very dim red when dark which is ideal for an alarm clock. Can save different settings for different chargers too, so can configure bed/desk/car etc differently.
- More apps. Doesn't apply to much these days, but iOS is still (sometimes) the first or only mobile platform supported. I have the odd app that I use a lot that doesn't exist on Android. May or may not apply.
- Better privacy controls
- No bloatware, all updates immediate
Think those are the main things. There are many other cool apps and tools, but I suspect there are more direct equivalents in Android to them, though not sure. Of the above list, I daresay some at least will apply to
some Android phones, likely a single brand like Samsung, and others will apply if you install 3rd party apps. But, without being 100% sure, I doubt whether they all work as well and out of the box.

There are several reports, but no clear idea of how widespread it it. Could be a handfdul of people, could be thousands. Anecdotally, I've got one and it's not warm in any way and most of the forums seem to agree. Might just be the odd outlier, hard to say. Likely a software update will fix, assuming it's a thing.
