Last night I spotted a small patch of rust on the out side of 2 chain links. What’s the best way to remove??? A ge yak wire brush????
Then what’s the best product for cleaning the chain???
I’ve just got some Silca Synergetic Drip Lube to oil it.
I’d like to wax at some point. But until then I need to clean the chain and cogs. (It’s not that dirty)

apparently there is a whole sub culture of waxing using Plutoline . Apparently it elevates you you a different level of cycling chain care

Yeah, it’s quite involved I think. Striping all the grease and waxing.

Well i've had my Slayer for 11 months now and used it more than most riders, wet, dry, muddy, musty... chain still fine..

I tend to use whatever lube I have handy - GT 85 if nothing else , I am. even not adverse to using Halfords own brands. Peatys stuff , and Finish Line etc seem to be crazily expensive.
Re Weeksy - he is special and does have particular cleaning regimes. However what he does will help chain longevity. The was someone on STW who takes their chain off the bike after each ride to clean and lube it.
Mine gets done if the bike is caked in shit and then given a good clean - or in the summer if it looks dry.

As I'm washing the rest of the bike the chain and cassette get a going over with muck off, and then in the stand I'll wipe the chain down and lube with whatever cheap oil I've got at the time.
