New BMW F900GS
New BMW F900GS
I know it won't be to everyone's taste and stinks of piss etc but I think it's lovely.
It can go to the top of my want list.
For now!

That looks ace. Thanks. Interesting that they didn't show it with luggage. More of a stab at the Tenere end?

Re: New BMW F900GS
I'm a fan too but, unless adding 100cc has magically transformed the F800GS, I'll need a little more converting.

Re: New BMW F900GS
Well ,I have an 800gs and really like it to be honest. It's completely different to the sports bikes ,the mt09, and street triple which I owned previously, but on the roads I like to ride on ,bumpy back lanes ,b roads and green lanes its far better than any of them.
Horses for courses and all that.
The new 900 has an extra 20 odd horsepower which I wouldn't turn down

Re: New BMW F900GS
I really thought I was going to like mine but I think it was a combination of factors that me. Including things like the ABS implementation. It was probably down to what I had been riding and what I was expecting...the main one of those was that it would be light. Maybe I should have persevered - it was in good nick, with all the trimmings like the ally luggage set.matt wrote: βFri Sep 08, 2023 8:21 pm Well ,I have an 800gs and really like it to be honest. Re: New BMW F900GS
The wife's 700GS was buzzy as fuck near the top of the rev range. I assumed the 800 was similar as it's basically the same motor.
Re: New BMW F900GS
It's been a mindset thing for me, One of the reasons I got this was to hopefully keep me from riding like a twat everywhere which to some extent has worked. It's pointless trying to keep up with R1s and gixxers and do 150+mph down speed camera vanned a roads because it simply can't do it which should help keep me alive, keep me out of prison and keep my licence.
However I feel it can still get a bit of a wriggle on down twisty b roads where the low end torque plays in its favour and I can easily keep up with sportier bikes until it gets to silly speeds.
I've not done too much "proper" off road on it though because like you say they are heavy. Scared myself a few times if I'm honest. It's good fun on gravelly unpaved roads and dirt tracks though .
I do still consider buying an enduro bike AND a sportier bike instead sometimes as well though.
What bike are you riding at the moment out of interest?

Re: New BMW F900GS
I've not ridden any of the vertical twin GS variants, but rode one of the 800 road bikes when launched. And was underwhelmed. It seemed underpowered and vibey. Which, since it was up against the VFR, was pants.KungFooBob wrote: βFri Sep 08, 2023 8:40 pm The wife's 700GS was buzzy as fuck near the top of the rev range. Even bland can be a type of character
Re: New BMW F900GS
Yes , it pulls really well up high in the revs but definitely gets very very vibey! But the rotax engine can take it apparently?KungFooBob wrote: βFri Sep 08, 2023 8:40 pm The wife's 700GS was buzzy as fuck near the top of the rev range. Rides and pulls nicely with the torque up to about 5k revs which I feel was where it was designed to live?
Kind of hoping the new 900gs can give the best of both worlds as the engine is the same as what's in the 900r and 900xr .
Not that any of this really matters as I don't have a spare 13 grand.

Re: New BMW F900GS
I'm bikeless. Cleared the garage of my old faithful 1150GS and a K12GT and bought the F800GS and that was the last one I had. Keep thinking about getting another bike but if I can't (for various reasons) load up with pillion and luggage and head off across the Channel it'll be a 'lane bimbler/green laner'....probably

Re: New BMW F900GS
I know a bloke in my bike club who had 900XR in Jewish racing gold.
It went for a service at a very well renowned independent mechanic. Who told him to get rid of it ASAP. He's now got a 1050 Sport.
I should really find out exactly what the issue was, rather than posting conjecture, but this is the internets!

Re: New BMW F900GS
That gold is awful!
They look nice in some of the other colours though, and generally seem to get pretty good reviews?
They get thrashed to death in the f900r cup at the BSB and don't seem to break too often ? Plus some of the eally really good riders in the class are vocal about how much they enjoy riding them!
I dunno really . Just thought that on paper the 900gs should be similar to a t7 off road but much better on the road

The new 900 has an extra 20 odd horsepower which I wouldn't turn down

Not sure bud, the 2015 f800gs is supposed to have 85 horses ,and the new 900 has been quoted as 105.The Spin Doctor wrote: βWed Sep 13, 2023 4:14 pmI think you'll find its an extra 10 hp.matt wrote: βFri Sep 08, 2023 8:21 pm Well ,I have an 800gs and really like it to be honest.
