I'm saying this on the back of a mate over here spending all year every year fundraising to keep her son in the GB Ski competition. He's an alpine & slalom skier and very competitive. He had an accident when he was younger so the French team binned him (he grew up in a neighbouring resort, French dad English Mum) - they have a lot of choice of course, due to the number of kids growing up in ski resorts and skiing competitively from an early age!
Once recovered he was picked to train with the GB team. However, there's never been really good financial support and the last couple of years there has been nothing - before last season there wasn't even a training program and coach in place for his level. He competed in the World Championships in Courchevel in the winter just gone and finished 22 and qualified for the 2nd run - he's top in the GB standings

Caroline sells stuff constantly all year around to raise money (lots of us give her stuff of no use to us but knowing someone will give her a few euros for it, so it's better than binning it and easier than dealing with selling for very little) and is currently running a prize draw to help raise the funds required (I think she says it's over £30k at this level, and will only increase). She works sodding hard to raise lots of little tiny bits of money that eventually adds up to help with the costs (pretty sure she and her husband still put in a fair amount tho!)
So, having watched her for years and years, I totally appreciate the effort required (mind, she can't do anything for him in regards training or tech - at least you have an interest and the skills to tech for Weeksy08!!)
Anyway - Didn't mean to hi-jack!! But -
Here's the link to the prize draw, just in case anyone fancies chucking a tenner for the possibility of a prize (they aren't all ski/France based and aren't nominative either, so you can pass it on to someone else!!)
