I remember when they were (semi) banned, various folk saying they were hoarding the old ones and would keep using them.

Yes, I've still a few used for various reasons.

Why do you ask?

Mainly LED or other lower energy (eg G9 halogen].

Still have a few GU10s as I couldn't get dimmable LEDs last time I looked.

I've got two, one in the fridge and one in the oven, everything else is LED.

The oil pressure light on the bike.

I tried an LED, but it flashed in time with the alternator. A matter of capacitance I suppose.

I should I have a box of them somewhere. Unused, large bayonet fitting, probably 100w. How many do you need? (I think you can still buy them, for some reason they're called 'rough service' lamps or some such. As they're not a mass produced, widely available item I suspect the actual service life isn't great).

Pretty sure that oven bulbs are still incandescent. (Or possibly just a tad annoyed).

I have a few as emergency replacements, just until I get a LED. Never used them in 7 years, and really should throw them out.

Oh...I have one in the lava lamp (man). They need the heat in order to work. I think I put an oven bulb in last time.

I still miss my rocket shaped lava lamp. I think it got dismantled when i packed up my stuff during a move and the parts distributed themselves randomly.

You can still buy the Mathmos lava lamps, including the rocket.

I like to concern myself with the affairs of others. Mainly to try and lord it over them and make out I'm more big time that I really am.


I also wonder if the scepticism of LED light bulbs followed by their pretty much complete market domination will be mirrored by other green technologies as we move towards Net Zero.

The EU bought up LED manufacturing, then banned halogens...........then they forced the increase in electricity costs.....turns out LED lights have 5g transmitters in them and can listen to the population and influence them by using more electricity than they claim they do.

Most of mine are CF, I collected as many as I could when they were free and bought spares when I bought fittings. As they fail they are being replaced with LED. The old style bulbs are in the cooker, as small heater to keep the damp off things in the shed and as a small simple load for testing transformers, inverters and the like.

The only bit about LEDs I'm sceptical of are the projected savings in running costs. It's not much use if you compare it to a bulb type you can't easily buy anymore. But then the last time I looked the ratings were nonsense anyway, a 60W incandescent had the same rating as a 58W fluorescent tube despite the latter giving off much more light.

Oven and microwave bulbs blew years ago and I see no reason why they need them so haven't replaced.
As mentioned one in a lava lamp, I've 3 100 watt jobbies tucked away for the inspection lamp in the garage, but that's running an LED one at the mo as I forgot where they were when 1 last blew.

Oh and one in the porch lamp, only because the LED jobbie was messing with the PIR sensor in the solar security lights I have up out front.

I think I have a stash of GU10s if you ever need them. (I did replace mine with LED as I don't need dimmable. (Got 4 lighting strips of 4 bulbs each in the kitchen and cabin).

Oven and fridge. Have a flourescent in the garage. Have changed kitchen tube for an LED one and that made a huge difference. Worth it. LED lights everywhere else.

Car has filament bulbs, bike has LED bulbs (except for the indicators).

Really? Seems odd as they're still making them. (They do make a 5ft tall, floor standing rocket for £2500 but the standard sizes are £80-90 and some big ones ~£400). What are they selling on eBay for £mega? I found a few where they're trying to get a premium on old ones - that you can buy new.
