NBT: BMW (lack of) Power

Despite only having covered an embarrassing 500 miles in the last year, I've stupidly decided to chop my 2011 Sprint ST1050 for a 2002 BMW R1100S
I have fond memories of my ginger and black R1150R Rockster and fancied another flat twin (fnar fnar!). Its a nice looking thing in grey/yellow/black, despite me really wanting a Boxer Cup but not willing to pay twice the price for a fancy paint job and a belly pan. From what I can make out this bike is what they call a BCX (Boxer Cup Prep) as has different suspension, no sidestand and a different drive shaft - we'll see once delivered.
Will.post some pics for amusement and abuse once it arrives.

Hoping my make me want to ride again, the ST1050 is a great bike but didn't excite me. The quirkiness of the BMW appeals to me.

I always liked the R1100S, Rev Fred had one that got nicked in Holborn, a nice grey one.
Yours might be different, but I always find the 1X00 engines a bit rougher than the 1X50s, no idea why that would be, maybe just the state of tune in the bikes I've ridden.

Total guess: I wonder whether they lightened the flywheel to make them 'sportier', or summat?

Nope!
Excellent choice of bike sir.
Hopefully you have the 5.5" rear wheel fitted and remus cans and decat.
Should have yellow springs on the shocks and make sure the front adjuster works.
Do not fit a disc lock to it.........ever!
See if you can blag some schnitzer rear sets too.
There is a fairly active web page iirc. They'll just tell you to fit a lennies induction and SJ air filter and a chip, which will give a decent 100hp at the wheel.
They eat paralever bearings if you wheelie them btw (yes, shafties DO wheelie)
Have fun and grind them heads!

Oh, don't forget to buy a twin max balancer, essential for all bimmer flat twin owners!

Not home yet but pic from the advert.
Other than the Boxer Cup bikes, I think this is the best colour scheme. Need to buy myself a Monokey box for the rack too.

Funnily enough, I rode an R11RT last weekend and thought it was smoother than my 1150.
It only had 26k as opposed to my 68k and I wonder is there some sort of vibration damper on the RT?

Could be single spark or twin spark head? Think the 1100's were a 50/50 mix, dependent on build year.
