I am not one for adding unnecessary bling to the bike and it’s fairly standard however during a recent rip around Wales on the usual mix of fast road and bumpy goat tracks favoured by Abel, the lead rider one of the heat shield screws departed from the bike allowing it to flex about unknown to me. This resulted in the standard shield snapping which i found out when i got home and cleaned all the mud and sheep shit off the bike …. Boooooo
A quick look online shows a standard replacement from Ducati is ……(drum roll) £252 plus VAT and the 3 screws to mount it are £5.23 each .. WT actual F.
I searched around and nothing standard, used or aftermarket copy under a couple of hundred quid in the UK so took a punt on a carbon fibre part on Ebay from a company called Brixiamoto in Italy at £82 including VAT and carriage. Couple of reviews said the part was good quality but might need some fine tuning to fit properly. 10 days later and the worlds lightest box arrives containing flyaway carbon panel
Managed to find similar screws at local DIY shop for a few pennies instead of the unobtanium priced Ducati items and hey presto, perfect fit, no fettling and looks excellent in my humble opinion
So “Grazie Mille” to Brixiamoto for the part. Looks great and fits well….. and yes the screws are thread locked
