Track day only helmet for around 300

Post by Rubin »

I'm new here so hi to everyone :)

I have been driving on various bikes for over 10 years, but when I moved to UK i sold my bike and gave all my gear to my younger brother so that he can continue the legacy.

Now I am itching to get back on one, but since I always preffered to go a bit faster and I've got kids now, I figured it's going to be safer if I stick to the track days just for a bit of fun.

I am planning to buy some bike later in the year, but first want to complete the gear as it is cheaper to buy and once it sits on the shelf it will motivate me to save more on the bike itself :D

So, I want to start with a helmet : can you guys recommend a good one around 300 quid? I can probably go a bit over this but don't want to reach the 500-600 arai level's. Since I am going not going to be using it daily and on track only, the most important thing is the safety & visibility, the gimmicks are not really needed.

I've found so far:
- Shoei NXR
- HJC RPHA-11 CARBON - PLAIN
both around my budget.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome.

Can't go far wrong with Shoei I wouldn't have thought but others will almost certainly have (quite strong) opinions. :D

I've owned and liked many NXRs, they're a lovely lovely fit. Very well made.... Go for one :)

Which ever one fits the best.

I've set my heart on a particular helmet model/paintjob in the past only to find it's uncomfortable.

Yo Robin,welcome in.

I'm currently using a RPHA -11 it's not as plush as an Arai, but it's lighter. I've used RX 7s for years,so I'm spoiled for other helmets.
