Royal Enfield Scram 411
I don't think that I want one but I really like that a lot...
I know it's 'just' a himalayan but it looks good and it's very cheap. I just can't think what I'd actually use it for.
£4299 apparently.

I like the look of them.
I was thinking about getting a Himalayan, lots of people seem to enjoy them, but I decided to ressurect my old XT600 instead.

I'd go one better. I don't want one,nor do I like it.

Saw one at last years Kop Hill climb and really like it. If I needed a cheap commuter I'd def consider one
Re: Royal Enfield Scram 411
I had a go on one and a Himalayan, wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding and topped out at about 70 but on the right roads they're good fun.
Quality control is a bit lacking and some of the parts are poor quality but easy and cheap enough to put right apparently.
I like them for some reason.

I've got the older 500, which they rated at 27bhp (I doubt it makes anywhere near that despite the loud pipe, PCV and K&N). It's surprisingly fun.

I had no idea the enfield was so much more expensive!KungFooBob wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 7:39 pmOne is £3800 and the other is £8800, so a bit less of everything.

Re: Royal Enfield Scram 411
I took a test ride on one of these bikes.
The suspension is so basic it didn't react to small bumps at all, the rear brake didn't do much, the front was only slightly worse. The seat is uncomfortable and the cutouts in the tank are only good for really short folk (I'm only 5'10" myself) as they are sharp right where your knee goes.
The engine is slow (I knew that going in) but it also tries to stall often since you need to send a notification letter before it'll rev up.
But never mind that, look at all those colours!

I think I'd rather pull the hairs out of my nostrils with pliers than own one of them.

Re: Royal Enfield Scram 411
I had the Himalayan and liked it, you have to remember it's basically a 1950s engine in a 1970s trailie with a few tarty bits on it.
As Yoz said, they weigh loads and really aren't great off road, something like an XLR125 would leave it for dust, but the worst thing is that the build quality is akin to a Chinese 125 from the 90s and the dealer back up in this neck of the woods is non existent.

Re: Royal Enfield Scram 411
I have a Himalayan, which is ideal for the 100's of kms of gravel tracks around me. Wouldn't take it on the more tricky tracks, but then I'm not that skilled off road, and I ride mostly on my own.
I did crash it and it ended up on its side at a odd angle at the bottom of a ditch. Too heavy to lift out on my own, so I was fortunate that a bloke on a mountain bike came passed about 45 minutes later, and we managed to pull the bike out. Learnt my lesson about riding alone on difficult tracks.
Done 30,000 kms on mine, including a 5,000 km trip around the Pyrenees, the Picos, north to south through Portugal and west to east back across Spain.
All it has needed is 5,000 km oil changes (can now do oil and filter change in 10 minutes) and one tappet adjustment at 10,000 km. Its a 15 minute job to check, start to finish.
Still in good condition, but then there is little rain here, and no salt on the roads. Not had any issue with the build quality, it also seems the paint is resilient to the sun.
Great for here, but I would not have wanted to ride it on my 120 mile a day commute when I was working, even when it can return 90mpg.
I'd much rather have a 125 two stroke trail bike, but the only advantage (for me) would be its lack of weight.
