£1500 (£1700 and knock down maybe) budget... What you got ?
Having some random "might buy a bike" but don't wanna finance or have a lot lying round in terms of wasted cash.
So with a roughly £1500 budget... What are you seeing.
Needs decent leg-room and riding position, nothing too sporty. It'd need to be capable enough of a Sunday morning jaunt out with @G.P and @IanB but wouldn't necessarily need to do a trackday
Something like

The same Z750 that I put in the £2K thread, but you don't like 4 cylinder bikes, in which case buy an SV650, I don't like 4 stroke twins, but an SV is almost acceptable, they're just a bit dull.

With the criteria of being a cheap Sunday plodder or a trip to the shops bike, a 4 cylinder wouldn't worry me.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 9:44 am The same Z750 that I put in the £2K thread, but you don't like 4 cylinder bikes, in which case buy an SV650, I don't like 4 stroke twins, but an SV is almost acceptable, they're just a bit dull.

A CBR600 is the answer to most of these questions. That VTR is interesting too, I loved mine and would have another.

For that money you're stuck in the bandit, sv650, vfr, sprint, firestorm territory. I think that I'd be looking at a vfr as it would be mechanically the most interesting, could do pretty much anything you ask of it and there must be a ton of parts around to make it look and feel less leggy.

What you want is a nice Hornet.
I've seen some first gen ER6's for less than a grand, but they all look like they were dredged from the bottom of a canal.
However, I suspect you'd be happier with the engine character of the SV.

This might fit the bill

If you want a SV650,the Gen 1 'Curvy' versions are carbs & the Gen 2 'Pointy' is fuel injected. If you look hard enough you can get either version for £1500.
FB have a group called 'Used motorbikes running & under £1500 UK',you might find something on there.

CBRs and VFR are a bit to sportsy for me. Thinking more mandlebars than clip ons.
I rode Ianb's VFR750 and didn't mind it, but didn't jump out at me.

I'd suggest it's an ideal time for you to try a 250cc 2T twin but you've missed them on price now.

An MVX250. If you knocked £100 for every month it's been listed on Ebay it'd easily be under budget, Not by enough to pay for the rebuild it needs though.
I can't find anything else unusual in your price range.

Well that's kinda what you want in a cheap couple of times a year bike. It's got to go, stop, work.

He's open to offers.
You can sell the plate to make some money back.
It's a project to be getting on with until spring has sprung.

It's got the manly engine too, albeit the smaller version.
