Chains _ any better than others

I have just had a chain snap on me today - not something I really want to repeat TBH.

Combination of roots and mud pushed my gear cable end into the chain at the top jockey wheel - and seemed to prize the plates apart.

KMC / SRAM/ Shimano all much of a muchness?
If I ran a 10 speed chain on an 11 speed set up, is it less likely to snap?

I tend to stick to sram chains after the last kmc chain snapped really quite early in it's life (even considering it's on an ebike).

I'd have thought a 10sp on an 11sp would be likely to not work well

reading about it, it seems to be plate dimension rather than thickness / strength.
I think it is a KMC that was on today ( will check - as I suspect it was a KMX lite - which was probably not a good choice.

10sp chains are thicker across the plates and won't be a good fit for an 11sp cassette.

Always use posher end SRAM chains as I never seem to have much luck with Shitmano, Wipperman or KMC. Just stay on top of chain wear with a checker.

See i'm different, i barely ever consider my chains, i run fairly low end chains and only use GT85, never use the chain checker, never have any issues.

Shimano have broken on me before - so I avoid them. So will look at the up-market SRAM ones - but I don't want lightweight

Maybe look an an e-bike chain if weight isn't a consideration.
