2023 Weight Watchers Thread
I've done dry January for last 19 years and generally lose a stone. 2021 I lost 17 pounds.
Normally start mid 15 stones. But today I am exactly 15 stones . So hopefully will hit the magic 13 number.

I don't normally join in this thread and probably won't post much, but I'm finally at the point where I should be able to do a reasonable amount of exercise without the non-reasonable amount of pain
Sadly I can't do as much skiing as I'd like, got to be too careful of the knee as much as the shoulder But, I do plan to join the gym up here as soon as I get paid this month. I will do some touring, but with starting work at 8am, I can't do much of that until it gets lighter earlier!! So, need to go find out the opening times of the gym and see if they fit with work!! LOL Have checked with the physio and the walking machine, cycling and cross trainer are good - need to try and see if I can manage with rowing machine without pain as that would be a useful thing to do!! LOL
Ideally I 'need' to lose around 20kg. But in all honestly the actual weight doesn't mean a lot to me - I'm more interested in getting into smaller clothes than knowing how much I weigh!
And since I finally have half my brain back and less pain in the arm/shoulder, it's time to try and get fitter

I’ve put about 3 kg on over Xmas. Hopefully will drop that again over the next few weeks and get back under 80kg.

What height are you? I am 6' 2/3"and was 80kg but to skinny for my height. Managed to gain about 5kg of the past three years but i think i should be around 89kg. Its not for the lack of eating that's for sure

5’11-6ft - i feel comfortable at 79-80 but I have to be careful as I put it on really really easily.

When i was that weight being tall and skinny was a bugger as i could never find jeans that fit Unknown to me until three years back i had a food allergy most of my adult life what will explain a lot. Good luck in your diet fatso

You are all horribly skinny people. I'm 6ft5 and was 125kgs, most of it blubber... since walking the hound, I'm fitting into jeans I've not worn in 3 years, I am moving better, and I've not weighed myself yet. Giving that another month. I've not done dry months so to speak as wife and I don't drink much at all anyhow and my Sunday drinking habit is under controlled conditions.
But as a target, 100kgs would be nice and 95kgs would be aces. Time will tell as I eat sensibly and am walking a lot now.

Realistically I just need to cut down on booze, and the inevitable related snacking, so 5kg weight loss would be doable, 10 would be great. I'm mainly interested in self preservation rather than weight loss, but they are useful goals to keep me motivated.

New Year, New Me!
I've basically been in increasing forms of crippledom since 2017, culminating in the last year of needing a walking stick. I guzzled icy cold beer every day through the covid summer and have taken to drinking a chateaus worth of wine each week as I couldn't really do much else!
I see pictures and video footage of me and i literally can not believe its me I'm looking at. So even though I'm sure losing the ability to exercise and even walk would see me pile on weight, i have accelerated that though drinking and the snacking that goes with it. So yes, ist dry January and a big lifestyle change for me too! I really do not want to be like this anymore!

Since losing 20kg in 2018 I'd maintained my weight until last summer when I went on holiday to France and returned 2.5kg lighter. I haven't put it back on so I don't think I'll bother joining in.

There's been a bit of a false start to my month off and the snow is also terrible, but I will be getting out on my snowboard in the next couple days. That's going to be the trick for me, more exercise

I wore a suit for the first time in ages when I went to the work Christmas party last month. T'was a bit more snug than I'd have liked. All the ones I've got are pretty well fitted to begin with, so it doesn't take much to push me out of the 'window'!
I want to get back to ~72kg, at the moment my 34" jeans need a belt to stay up, I used to need a belt on my 32" ones. I'd guess I'm about 78-80kg now, but I've not done the all impotent first weigh in.
I've started running on the regular again and immediately twisted my ankle

I put on loads of weight during lockdown -
I have lost 10kgs in the last 8 months and was easily able to wear a suit I've not been able to get on for a few years - need to keep going as according to BMI calculator I should be even slimmer.
Was going to return to the hated cycling but the current lurgy has put paid to that - Self preservation as Deftrap says .
And i've started dry January although Mrs Smethurst failed at day 3

The scales here are not exactly my friend at the moment, but far from my complete nemesis too. We've got a love hate... but i'll admit i'm carrying more than i'd like and more than i ought to be considering i'm going MTB racing this year. So it's back onto the 5-2 again, i'm currently on the 2nd 2 day this week having started it on Tues.... but along with the 2s, i'm trying to be better on the 5s as well... Which should hopefully help me along.
On the scales this morning was 15st 10. Which is slightly skewed as i'd say it should be a 12/13 as i'd just done a Zwift race.
Target is 15st 0 by the end of Feb.... I'm pretty confident if i can hit the 5-2 and keep the snacking down, i'll get to it.

Having hit 86kg some time ago and deciding 'something must be done' I've levelled out at 68kg. Just aimed to lose it steadily. Now have a balance of about 2000kCal per day in and burned. That'll go up as the weather improves and activity levels go up. Aiming to put back a bit of muscle mass (legs and upper body) so more swimming and longer yompin' in the hills. BMI could still come down a bit but is in the OK range.
I slackened off after 2 years of zero alcohol (still no beer) but tbh, I've kind of lost interest. I'll dip into the stash of red wine in the Wine Soc 'cellars' as and when I feel inclined.
Food-wise, just carry on as is. Mainly from scratch stuff but with the occasional pizza or fish n' chips type thing. Portion size has dropped and also now, if I feel full I'll stop and leave stuff on the plate.

I keep a spreadsheet of my weight, BMI and Fat Content. Sad I know, it's got graphs and everything.
Not weighed myself since beginning of Dec, intentionally, as I like to party and not worry about it too much. That said, I was creeping up towards 76kg last time I did weigh myself. I like to keep to about 72kg (c. 176cm tall: short-arse). I'm bracing myself for tomorrow's weigh-in.
