How much heat can powder coat take?
Looking to do something with the pipes on my gnarley sportster. The end cans are badly corroded as they're cheap aftermarket crap. I was wondering of I could get them, and the heat shields over the downpipes powder coated, I know there's different grades, just dont want it to melt, there's feck all baffles in the cans so they don't get really hot.

In my experience not much, you're better off getting them Cerakoted, I know a place that can do it, but it's near Gt. Yarmouth

Either bin the end cans and go raw or buy stainless/alloy new ones from any which/where on't internet ?

Whatever coating you use, how will you stop the current deterioration? Any condensation means they're likely to continue rotting from the inside. You might end up with just the plastic outer

It's the cheap chrome that's pitted badly. the actual structure is quite thick.

You're going to have trouble getting anything to stick to chrome, the best answer might be barbecue paint and accepting that you'll be redoing it regularly.

That stuff holds up well on my smoker firebox, which gets a damn sight hotter than an end can, and lives outside 24/7
