Yes i know. Rock N Roll. Never see them in years but i am looking for a wedge that was countersunk into the floor. It would spring down when the door went over and back up trapping the door open. Looked a like my Fantastic drawing Did they have a particular name as i cant find them?

Not sure if that would vibrate flat @cheb and a couple in your link @1913 look like they would do but rubber backed what hold up with the weight of the door. I need one that stays up by a spring. What its for is a pull out Ikey Day bed. It will be the bed across the back doors in my camperbus so need it to stay shut when driving. Drop bolt would look crap and i remember these stops from school days.

Edit: wouldn't work though. You probably wouldn't be able to reach it to push the bed back in unless you could poke a stick through the bed laths.

You could make a couple of magnetic catches perhaps?

Would a normal sprung door catch work? Or would it be too long when vertically downwards?

He wants to hold it closed so that would be on the outside and work.
Knowing those beds I'd drill a hole through a couple of the moving slats just behind the long bar they slide under, then stick something through the holes so they can't slide out past the bar. To open the bed just lift the mattress and remove the pegs.

Yebbut. When the bed is out and he wants to slide it back, how do you depress it to get the edge of the bed back over it? It'll be under the bed.

Ah, yes.

Cutting a hole in the floor is not issue. Plenty clarence and its just the diff under that part what is a good foot lower than the underside. Electrics are up the side of the bus and tank is up front. I may carpet the but when done rather than Laminate so until i find the type i want i can always just use a rubber wedge. Last time i ever seen this type it must have been the late 90's and used to hold open function call doors.
