Honda 750 Transalp

Post by The Spin Doctor »

As predicted after all the 'spy' shots it's a mini Africa Twin

I resemble this comment.
In fact with 90hp this bike may be more exciting than I need, but I am still interested.

Keen to see a price for it.

I guess it will be about £8K, it's the Nissan Qashqai of motorcycles, much like the original Transalp

I'm not an ADV bike lover, but that Transalp looks to be gimmick-free (unusual for Honda), has a significantly lower kerb weight and more powerful engine than the competing Suzuki, and has generous amounts of wheel travel (200mm R, 190mm F). I reckon they'll fly off the shelves.

Surely the Nissan Qashqai is the Honda Transalp of cars? :D

You’ve just described pretty much every Japanese bike this side of a litre sportsbike, least they’ve gone for an engine with a bit of character and not an IL4.

At the risk of retro-heresy I actually prefer it in the black and grey colourways.

The white one actually looks a lot better in real world lighting; well, it does in the Youtube videos of it.

I think Honda have nailed the design for this style of bike compared to most of the other bike makers, the exception being Yamaha and their Tenere range.

Oh, agreed. I like the white too, just find myself preferring the other two :)

Forgot to add I quite like it, I can have fun with 90hp on the road and also throw in a few gentle green lanes. Half the people that won’t buy this as it’s not powerful enough never get near half throttle on their 200hp bikes 🤣

Don't really agree with that, Paul...... having slimmed down my fleet from six bikes to three this summer I am very happy with the two modern bikes I have in the garage, although I'll admit that the Niken GT and 890R are not to everyone's taste.

However, for me, they cover pretty much all the bases and, if I want to go back in time, I can get my arse into gear and get the Mille back on the road.

I like the retro look of it & I'm interested if it's somewhere around 8K.
No doubt 90HP isn't enough for some people, but in the real world,it's enough for me & my licence.
Plenty of other bikes out there if you're looking for more performance.
It's a few years since I last visited a bike shop to buy a bike & the last time a Honda caught my imagination was when the original Blade came out over 30 years ago
I'll be booking a demo ride in spring

I'd rather have the 1100 African Twin. Mainly because I like the sidelight signature.
