Boring question: I need a new back tyres

What are the go to suggestions? I need something beefy - as I tend to puncture / wreck them.
Have had Hans Dampf - side wall split
DHR - torn on the second time out
DHF - punctured 9 times in one ride
Now have a Vitoria Martello - which works well but has worn quickly.
South Downs tracks and mud ….

I'd go whatever in a Double down compound you fancy in a maxxis, I prefer a DHR myself

Michelin Wild Muds or Enduros with the armoured casing, a bit heavy and slow rolling but I've never destroyed one despite running the muds at 18 psi.

I've got a hans dampf on the rear at the moment, in the super gravity casing & soft compound. It's heavy and feels pretty sturdy (it was awful to get on). What casing was yours?

I did read that the new continental tyres are meant to be quite good too...

My Hans Damp's were just the bog standard ones. Part of the learning curve is how aggressive the South Downs , esp flint can be on tyres. Not helped by going fast sown the chalky tracks - and I am not the lightest.
Hence double down/ gravity/ Super Gravity casings would seem to be the order of the day.
The only issue is the weight - and how draggy some of them are.

I had a maxxis rekon on the rear before I put the Hans dampf on. I really noticed the difference in weight and drag and didn’t like it to begin with, but now I’m used to it, it’s fine. I don’t think there’s much in it in average speed between the rekon and the hd now my legs are used to it.

I'm not sure it much matters ? I've run one on the front, i think i had one on the front for a DH race recently, but IMO a tyre is a tyre, they may give more grip, but if you ask me, not for normal people, we can't take advantage of the extra grip, i bet 99% of us would do the same trail on 3 different tyres at the same speed each time.

I've run one on the front, i think i had one on the front for a DH race recently, but IMO a tyre is a tyre, they may give more grip, but if you ask me, not for normal people, we can't take advantage of the extra grip, i bet 99% of us would do the same trail on 3 different tyres at the same speed each time.

I think most people would struggle to tell the difference ( other that may Weeksy Jr) - I have swapped between Schwalbe, Maxxis and Vitoria with no issues at all. Grip has not been the issue - but longevity
