So who's going to the pub this weekend?

Tables pre book only, table service, not supposed to sit with groups, I'm not really seeing much point. I'm arguably doing more socialising than usual by doing MTB and xsr rides, so not meeting others at the pub, I'm not fussed about.

I'd like a nice sit down meal out I must admit, but not desperate for it.

I miss the pub a bit, I really do miss going out for a nice meal and not having to wash the pots.

Not enough to jump through all the hoops... not that many pub will actually follow the rules.

The highly overrated flu going around is not the problem, the government is.

So you go to the pub and days later they get a positive on the day you were there. You might not have been there at the same time. You might not have been anywhere near the positive but you are then stuffed.

And if a member of staff is the positive, they'll shut the surrounding 50 miles down.

I'll bet we all remember the closing scene of the first Terminator "The storm clouds are gathering".

It seems that the side-effects can include permanent severe lung damage, highly unusual blood clotting leading to strokes, and more, with 'recovered' patients needing long-term support.

Thanks. Foal got away fairly lightly, GF suffered. I won't post details of her experiences and subsequent treatment, suffice to say that my son was quite scared by it.

I'm not a medical person and cannot understand or comment on medical conditions, I saw figures that convinced me that the death rate was similar to the annual flu we are all used to.

I'll be visiting the pub garden of one of my favourite haunts. It closed down last November, was sold and was due to re-open as a free house 2 days after lockdown. The guys who got it have been doing takeaways etc to keep alive and I'm looking forward to supporting their enterprise.

Its got an "outside" kitchen and bar in the garden - no booking required and also a main building which will be 'book only' for a table - so effectively a Restaurant for the time being.

There will be a slightly increased risk, but no more (I would have thought) than if you'd stayed at home and ordered a pizza to be delivered.
