Re: BSB Brands Hatch
Bradley Ray remained at the top of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship SUPERPICKS Free Practice times at Brands Hatch today, with this morning’s opening action deciding the combined times as intermittent light showers hampered the afternoon’s session.
Ray claimed the leading position by 0.413s from Yamaha rival Jason O'Halloran as the local contender topped the times as he heads into his home round bidding for his first Championship title.
Danny Buchan missed out on second place by just 0.005s as he completed the top three for SYNETIQ BMW, just ahead of Peter Hickman on the FHO Racing BMW.
Tommy Bridewell held fifth place as the Oxford Products Racing Ducati rider narrowly edged out Glenn Irwin; the pair are separated by a single point ahead of this weekend’s three races, with the Honda Racing UK currently having the edge in the standings.
Danny Kent was seventh fastest on the Buildbase Suzuki, the previous Moto3 World Champion ensuring that five different manufacturers featured in the top seven positions.
Double champion Josh Brookes was the fastest of the MCE Ducati riders in eighth place, just ahead of Andrew Irwin and Ryan Vickers who completed the top ten.
Lee Jackson was eleventh fastest with Josh Owens claiming the final place in the top 12 for the Rapid CDH Racing Kawasaki team.

I imagine he’ll have to get used to it as he can’t run traction control, I think they can use traction control in Superstock.

Very touching tribute to Chrissy Rouse. There were a fair few folk visibly broken up when being interviewed.

Re: BSB Brands Hatch
Glenn Irwin claimed the final Bennetts British Superbike Championship pole position of the season at Brands Hatch this afternoon as the Honda Racing UK rider timed it right to set the fastest lap before a shower halted any further improvements.
Glenn Irwin had moved to the top of the times with seven minutes to go and despite some changes for the chasing positions, the conditions meant that he would remain on top.
Peter Hickman returns to the front row for the FHO Racing BMW team ahead of Tommy Bridewell as the Oxford Products Racing Ducati rider bids to overhaul Glenn Irwin with the pair separated by a single point.
Kyle Ryde will head the second row on the leading Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha ahead of Danny Buchan and championship leader Bradley Ray.
Andrew Irwin will start seventh for the Bennetts BSB eBay Sprint Race, just ahead of McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O'Halloran and MCE Ducati’s Josh Brookes.
Danny Kent completed the top ten for the Buildbase Suzuki team as he nudged Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasaki’s Lee Jackson to eleventh.

Re: BSB Brands Hatch
Bradley Ray sealed his first Bennetts British Superbike title with a fifth place in the eBay Sprint Race at Brands Hatch, celebrating the championship victory for the Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha team at his home round.
Glenn Irwin claimed a commanding race victory in the opening race action of the weekend, pushing hard from the start to bridge a gap over the chasing pack as he bids to end his campaign on a high for the Honda Racing UK team.
Glenn Irwin had a 1.374s advantage at the final, but behind there was a battle between Peter Hickman and Andrew Irwin as the pair diced for second place.
Hickman had the edge at the finish as he moves ahead in the Bennetts BSB Riders Cup battle with a second place as Andrew Irwin claimed his third podium finish of the season for SYNETIQ BMW.
Ray had only had to finish in the top seven to claim the title and he was forced to relinquish fourth place to Tommy Bridewell when the Oxford Products Racing Ducati made his move with three laps remaining.
Ray’s eventual fifth place was enough to claim the title, just ahead of Jason O'Halloran and Danny Buchan.
Danny Kent scored his best result of the season in eighth place ahead of Kyle Ryde and Tom Sykes who competed the top ten.

Re: BSB Brands Hatch
Peter Hickman became the tenth different race winner of the 2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship in the second race at Brands Hatch, claiming FHO Racing BMW their first victory of the season.
Glenn Irwin initially launched off the line to lead the pack on the opening lap from brother Andrew and Hickman with Danny Buchan and new champion Bradley Ray in close contention.
Hickman was determined though and the FHO Racing BMW rider had moved to the front of the pack by lap four with a move down the inside at Paddock Hill Bend. He was able to maintain his edge despite a small advantage over the chasing pack who fought for the final podium positions.
Buchan had been biding his time and he moved into second place with five laps to go as he continued to come under pressure from the Irwin brothers and Jason O'Halloran who had been closing back in on the leading group over the closing laps.
On the final lap, Hickman had the edge with Buchan in second, but the tussle for third between Glenn Irwin and Andrew Irwin plus O’Halloran ended prematurely at Surtees when the SYNETIQ BMW rider made contact with his McAMS Yamaha rival.
O’Halloran crashed out of the race unhurt, but Andrew Irwin was issued a ride through equivalent time penalty (20 seconds), a three place grid penalty for race three and two penalty points. The sanction can be found here.
Glenn Irwin claimed another podium finish meaning he has the advantage for the runner-up spot in the standings heading into race three, after Tommy Bridewell was forced to start the race from the eBay pit lane after a problem on the grid.
Bridewell fought his way through to fifth place, just adrift of Kyle Ryde in fourth place on the lone Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha, after champion Ray crashed out on the second lap at Paddock Hill Bend.
Danny Kent continued his best weekend of the season so far in sixth place ahead of Buildbase Suzuki teammates Christian Iddon and rookie Charlie Nesbitt with the MCE Ducati pairing of Josh Brookes and Tom Sykes completing the top ten.
Bennetts British Superbike Championship, Brands Hatch, Race 2 result:
Peter Hickman (FHO Racing BMW)
Danny Buchan (SYNETIQ BMW) +0.622s

Re: BSB Brands Hatch
Glenn Irwin claimed the final Bennetts British Superbike Championship race win of the season for the Honda Racing UK team, holding off fierce rival and brother Andrew Irwin and Danny Buchan to sign of his 2022 campaign in style at Brands Hatch.
Glenn Irwin took the lead at the start but Danny Buchan made a move at Stirlings on the opening lap and then he was holding the advantage as the pack shuffled behind him with Peter Hickman, Glenn and Andrew in the front pack.
Buchan was withstanding the pressure but as the race reached the closing stages, the SYNETIQ BMQ rider made a mistake on the exit of Surtees, which created the opportunity the Irwin brothers needed to move ahead.
Glenn Irwin hit the front and then pulled the pin over the final three laps to take the chequered flag first for the final time this season and secure the runner-up spot in the standings. Andrew Irwin was back on the podium as he held the advantage over his teammate Buchan who completed the top three.
Tommy Bridewell was fourth on the Oxford Products Racing Ducati as he managed to get ahead of Hickman on the final lap, but the fifth place was enough to secure the Bennetts BSB Riders Cup trophy.
Champion Bradley Ray ended his season in sixth for the Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha team just ahead of the leading MCE Ducati of Josh Brookes with Buildbase Suzuki pairing Danny Kent and Christian Iddon running in eighth and ninth. Kyle Ryde completed the top ten on the second of the Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamahas.
Bennetts British Superbike Championship, Brands Hatch, Race 3 result:
Glenn Irwin (Honda Racing UK)
Andrew Irwin (SYNETIQ BMW) +0.672s
Danny Buchan (SYNETIQ BMW) +1.956s
Tommy Bridewell (Oxford Products Racing Ducati) +5.474s
Peter Hickman (FHO Racing BMW) +5.679s
Bradley Ray (Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha) +11.000s
Josh Brookes (MCE Ducati) 11.334s
Danny Kent (Buildbase Suzuki) +11.485s
Christian Iddon (Buildbase Suzuki) +17.652s
Kyle Ryde (Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha) +17.744s

Re: BSB Brands Hatch
I haven't seen any coverage but read a comment by a friend that 'O'Halloran threw his bike and another just after it had passed him' - was it similar to the last time? And was that why Irwin got a penalty?

Re: BSB Brands Hatch
Pretty much the same as before, depends how you look at i suppose.
Andrew Irwin went up the inside on the entrance to Surtees but was a little too hot, so when O’Halloran saw him I think he would have been ok but it looked to me like at that moment Andrew lost the front and sat up ever so slightly having to run slightly wider than he intended and that’s when they made contact and O’Halloran went down.
