NBD : the bouncy bouncy almost DH beast!
I dunno... i couldn't think of a name... lol..
But i've been thinking lately of some of my riding and thinking "wonder if i'd enjoy/go better on a slacker bike. The favourite was a Specialized Status but this came up and i thought "well, why not give it a whirl, lets see what happens with it"
It's got the right geometry, it's a fun playful and good thing, so what's the worst that can happen... well, lets find out hey.

Re: NBD : the bouncy slack black Polish...
Trek is out the door.
In a weird twist of fate i sent to my LBS guy, Stefan at Rotec Cycles and he sold it to the guy who sold it to the people i'm geting it from.
So he knows the history and how many miles and it stacks up that it's done very few miles..

NS Define 160 carbon. They're a small company from Poland

Quite a slack headset/geometry so should go downhil well.
Don't get me wrong, i don't think they Trek is holding me back as such, but it's far more XC than DH and i just think i may enjoy a bit slacker.

Re: NBD : the bouncy slack black Polish...
How is a slacker bike more playful ? My HT with a steep head angle turns and is way easier to throw around than my FS with a slacker head angle. I can see how slack works downhill but I always assumed slacker meant slower turning so not as playful ?

Higher stack height makes the front more poppy as less weight over the bars. That is of course unless you're eating the stem like my lad.

That’s pretty good then, good to know what sort of life it’s had.
Looking forward to ride report…

When you said Polish , I thought it must have been a Pole. But that didn’t look like one.
I have no idea who NS are - off to google
Not as slack as the 161 …

I need to learn how to jump - and pop the back up. But it is dead quick and stable down hills - and climbs well.
I need more balls

Re: NBD : the bouncy slack black Polish...
So the thread is going to need a rename.
I'll do that later on.
I was sitting at home last night and thought "is the NS actually the right bike" and I ummed and ahhh'd with myself about what I want from a bike currently.
1. More bounce
2. More confident downhill geometry
I then changed the deal I had in place to this instead
Whyte G180rs.
Why, well xc lightness isn't important as most of my rides are with DH kiddo. If they're not with him they're with @crust .
I thought "if we're going bouncy, let's go bouncy"
With 190mm front end and 180mm out back, it's sure bouncy.
Lastly was 27.5 wheels. Why, well I'm still not 100% on the 29 thing, I think the 27.5 is a bit more responsive
So Monday I'm picking the new bike up.

Re: NBD : the bouncy bouncy almost DH beast!
More bouncy, more 27.5, more events/races, more stability.
It just felt like the NS was hal a step in the direction I want at the moment, a bit of a middle ground.
Riding the lads DH bike more and more shows me that I can get used to geometry but it does inspire confidence, even when sprung ridiculously.

Re: NBD : the bouncy bouncy almost DH beast!
Well that turned into a farce.
Found the place and walked in with the Trek to swap for the Whyte.
One of the mechanics takes it to one side and starts checking it over. Points out a couple of marks but gives it the mechanical mod of approval, checking cranks, brakes, bouncy bits, chain etc..
So the owner points out a stone chip, some marks on the cranks and says "it's not as nice as the pictures, it'll cost me a couple of hundred to sort the chips, how about we change the price to £100 difference"
He then looks at the saddle with derision "it's not a bontrager saddle"
"No mate, if it's an issue, put the saddle in the G180" so we swap the saddle.
I wasn't inspired as the G180 had a few marks too. Which I didn't comment on at the time. Just accepted the £100 as ok.
He then looks more and gets the chain checker out, which his mechanic had previously done. "Oh it's going to need a chain too" he says.
So I picked up my Trek and said "clearly you're not happy, I'll put it back on the car and take it away"
He then got a bit blustery and huffy "well I never said I was going to charge for the chain"
To which my reply was "sorry, I'm not listening any more"
Of course my saddle was still on the G180 "wait wait, what about your saddle he says"
"Throw it in the bin mate, I don't care "
So the Trek is still on my car and I've wasted an afternoon.

However , let's face it - the Trek is going
