What's good these days? The standard 21" front and and 18" rear and I'd like something more road biased than mudplugging.

A mild disappointment yesterday that the TDR wheels don't fit.

Have a look at Bridgestone Trailwings, the ones that came new on my DRZ400S were a good tarmac tyre, they also worked well on dry trails

Do you want big lean angles or high mileage? On my DT175MX I just run a cheap knobbly front and rear. They are ok for a bit of green laning and if you get a "trials" type soft enough for a decent anle of lean, although you won't get your knee down unless it's followed by your arse. Ther is insufficent power to brake the rear tyre away on the road or shred the tyre.

Trailwings.

They used to be known as Deathwings, but I had a pair on a JDM DR250S and used to ride round the outside of knee down sport bikes at my favourite roundabout. There's dozens of different versions now, one version TW203/4 look quite road biased.

Just took the knobblies off my MZ enduro and fitted Michelin Sirac tyres.
Feels much better on the road with plenty of corner grip.

They sometimes come up on EBay for a good price if your not in a rush , i waited for a EBay
discount code then bought mine.

Think the KMX I had was on Trailwings for a while.
Road based but I took it on mine tracks a lot.
Not great in mud but fine on hardpack and roads.
Oh, shite on wet grass.

Thanks. It looks like I'll settle for whatever I can get delivered at a sensible price. Or wait a month until I'm on the big island again.

Probably the latter.

It's registered, I just need a number plate. That'll be a week then. Mind you, it might take me that long to move the boxen in front of it. One and a half loads in a MWB Trafic, and I can pack well. There's a lot of boxen.

I've done naff all about the tyres, I got distracted looking at supermoto wheels for it.

Forgot to mention but I also had some Metzeler tyres on my KMX, easily good enough for hossing about on Lake District roads but reasonable on mine track hardpack.
Think they were called Enduro 1s but don't be fooled by the Enduro title, they were road based.

I've been using Avon Trailriders on my Tenere, they replaced the discontinued Distanzia. Absolutely fine on tarmac, bugger all use offroad unless its been really dry for ages.
