Fitting a brake lever guard

Yea, I know RTFM. Accept, I would have, if the part came with one. Not available to download on the R&G site as it says 'fitting instructions coming soon'. Great. I've tried fitting it with the bits it comes with, as far as I can tell it only goes together one way. When it is fitted, it's not tight enough. I can easily move it up and down. I don't want to over tighten it and I'm positive it will break with it being a plastic part.

I've contacted R&G, I hope they can sort it. Otherwise i'll need to buy another one, with 3 working day until I leave for Pembrey. And yes, I would have had it sooner hadn't R&G messed me about with my original order.

Urgh. I hate bike DIY.

I don't imagine the fitting kit is any different to any of the other guards they use, so follow one of them;

If'n it were me I'd wrap a bit of tape or a bit of inner tube around the expanding part so it's got something with a bit of give to snick up against that alos will have a bit more friction

Plastic? If it's so fragile it won't do its job

The plastic ones are a bit crap, but the only answer is tighten it more, the Acerbis ones are good, but they aren't cheap

I've got one in the garage i can bring down. Lots of clever people available to fit it for you, no worries.

I know it's not the most expensive, but didn't see value in spending over £100 for my first trackday.

I've managed to get it tighter by fitting another washer to it. The problem is that the bars are not hollow at the end, they're threaded. I assume this is for OEM bar end mirrors and end caps.

R&G is plastic but it's plenty strong enough. They're required to deflect an impact from another bike alongside, not survive a nuclear attack.

Let's be honest, people fit them to keep track day organisers happy, TDOs want them because the insurance company wants them, no one really cares if they work or not.
