Austrian GP Red Bull Ring

Post by Skub »

On current form I can't see KTM or Brad Binder pulling a result like last year.

Another Ducati dominance?

Will Fabulous once again salvage the honour Of Yamaha?

In the interview with MM he said he's at the circuit to kick some arse with Honda. He wants a bike to win next year.

He's about the only person who could force Honda into a complete change of method, and even then it won't be easy. The Japanese way of working is deeply top-down, no-one rocks the boat and keeping 'face' is all-important.

I remember a (possibly apocryphal) tale from the 60s when Hailwood was talking to the bosses at HQ about the new seasons's 500cc race bike, which they'd just unveiled. Hailwood asked for one of the shocks off the bike and when it was handed to him, he promptly threw it into a nearby lake. That got their attention.

What did Maverick do - hold the bike on the limiter for an extended period? In theory you shouldn't be able to over-rev the engine, as the management software should make it impossible.

Maybe being held on the limiter for an extended period was seen as a statement of intent!

There were also (denied) accusations of a Yamaha paddock scoot being set on fire.

There was another one, cant remember the rider but there was some public criticism of the bike which was met with reply from Honda big boss "Rider must go necessary faster" ......... according to HRC its NEVER the bike ;)

Pol couldnt ride it so he is off at the end of the year to KTM/GasGas

Which was why Rossi jumped ship to Yamaha.

Sprint race is a goer then.

They'll be ditching FP3 and racing instead.

Ducati lockout on the first 5 grid slots until the last moment when Fabio squeezed a 5th.
The beast is boss today.

Oh. Forgot to mention.
At last race Hodgy was saying that the rear tyre wears so much, it loses 2Kg in weight. Wow. That's a fair percentage of the rear unsprung weight.

Coz this morning Guinters was saying that even putting the 355mm discs on front, affects the suspension.

355mm discs? Fuck me, how do they ever fit the calipers to the forks? There's very little spare space with 320mm discs, let alone 355mm ones.

Awesome ride from Sasaki. Two long lap penalties and still managed the win.
