Blake from GMBN did it on a hardtail a couple or more years ago. Worth a watch.

I've done the Alp D'Huez Mega a few times; I raced the Avalanche cup series in the 90's at all of the tracks, with the exception of the round on Reunion Island.

I would like to go back and have a go on an e-bike.

Just watched the video. Either they are starting a lot lower down the mountain than when I did it (which seems unlikely as it looked like the start line was in the same place as before, just down from the gondola top station) or climate change has wrecked things.

The first mile or so used to be brutal as it was on snow and ice.

Looks like they use a slightly different course for qualifying which starts on the other side of the top of the mountain, that actual race still runs on snow at the top.

I was severely tempted by this in 2019. I had the time and the opportunity, but I was just scared of ending up on the 'wrong side' of France with a busted arm and no way of getting back.

If you do decide to do it again, shout me. I'm happy to be support team if I have notice to arrange time off etc :D :D :1 :1 :1

Would you have been able to get me and my van back to Biarritz ?? I had to work the following week!

It was a one time deal for me tbh and I probably should have done it. The chances of me being able to take time off in August are very very very small!

If I'd known you had wanted to, I could have come to Biarritz and gone to the megamadness with you, so yes!! LOL LOL

Let me know if August ever works out and I'll sort something to come and be stand by driver!!!
