I'm keeping an eye on the free ads/marketplace for a winter project. I've set myself a budget of up to £2k (which is why I keep posting cheap shitters). I'd really like a Honda Bros, but they're all further away that I want to travel.

I spotted this on gumtree today. Back in my late teens I had to make a choice between a 400 Bros and one of these. I picked the Bros.

I'd be half tempted, but these days I don't think I'd be able to bend myself to fit, they're proper tiny.

I wonder how easy insurance is on something with as many mods as that.

It's only a pipe/pod filter and a paint job, the rest is stock.

I've just been googling big bores, 385 and 440cc kits are available. I think the 440 probably makes it into a handgrenade.

Is not the case any more that race numbers are specifically illegal on road bikes?

I think it used to be a law, because RAC Rally (car) competitors had to get special dispensation to use the roads to get between stages without removing their numbers, but last time I looked (a couple of years back now, I think I checked when Honda started selling repsol rep fireblades with 63 on them) I couldn't find anything saying race numbers were illegal.

I remember in Canada that if your car has stripes or numbers, you get an insurance loading.

Pedantic I know, but aren't race numbers on a specific coloured background depending on the class. That's not, so isn't it just a number?

Not sure that's a valid argument, especially since things like MotoGP dont seem to have that rule anymore.

That's my reason for asking, to me race numbers are on a background, but then I don't follow racing so the rules have probably changed.

In the UK colours are decided/regulated by the ACU. I doubt the Five-O understand or care.

It's not got a roof for the air identification number, they need to use a BMW C1

I've had a look round too, including a poke about the Road Traffic Offenders Act, which is The Law we're actually talking about breaking.

Can't find anything to say numbers are specifically illegal, but racing on the road obviously is. General consensus is that the 5-0 might think you're racing if you're all numbered up.

If they think one of their own bikes is racing....well.... :?
