SV650

After hiring an R7 for a Trackday a couple of weeks ago and finding it an over hyped let down I thought I’d go back and build an SV650 for 1/3 of the cost which I know from experience will be massively better. I did this in 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed the bike. Nothing major to do, shock, fork springs, tyres and exhaust. Picked the bike up today and it had the fairing lowers on which I don’t like so they’ve been taken off. It’s now ready to start bolting stuff on
And more of this is what I plan

Always fancied an SV650 for a cheap trackday hound. What sort of money can you pick one up for (that hasn't been couriered to death)?

Tbf is was less bad than I expected when I rode the previous one at Donny. Some bits feel flimsy, but it rode well enough I admit.
690smcr or sv650

Couch has already said the SV is quicker, so there's going to be some unconscious bias, an independent should ride both bikes.

I'll be only too pleased to, both would be fun around there IMO
If I manage to get some decent tyres for my LC , we could maybe include that in the comparison too- we could each then do our own 3-way and average it out

3 way? I may be taking my bike but I don't think I'm riding. It's £150 that could be spent racing DH I'm afraid.

I'll try not to get in the way during the inappropriate bike test

Shock fitted, levers adjusted and number plate fitted. Only one issue as I unpacked the new shock it rolled off the bench and is now scratched. Previous owner had already done gearing and it’s got new Suzuki discs and pads so that’s some stuff I haven’t got to do

With the fairing lower off there was two brackets held in by bolts that are now too long. Quick trip next door to the machine shop and they turned me up some small crash bungs to take the place of the brackets, wheels out ready for tyres too then it’s nearly done

Wheels out I’ll get tyres swapped later this week. Then it’s just fork springs and that’s it
