Ducati 900ss Part 11 - modding & improving

Story so far, I found a 1995 900ss for sale which had a cracked frame. Normally I would walk away from a project like this but the previous owner had fitted some tasty extras like an Ohlins shock & Keihin FCR flatside carbs which tickled my fancy so I had a punt. If you are interested in how the fix up went have a look here

The fix up was stage one & now that I've done a few shakedown rides & I'm happy with most things (they are never finished right?) It's time to make a few changes, improvements hopefully but time will tell.
The bike currently looks like a standard 900ss with the double seat & low level exhausts & I want to make it look like a modded Superlight.

So I've been shopping
An Oberon clutch slave cylinder should make the action easier
Some lightweight bikini fairings should freshen up the look
I had already bought a pair of high level Superlight carbon exhausts but the mounting brackets are rare as you know what so I'm pleased I managed to source a pair for decent money

This Superlight seat is not OEM & I need to buy some mounting brackets from Ducati & glass them in place, or fabricate some sort of internal support bracket.
These seat pads are new OEM ones

As far as I'm concerned, the most exciting parts for the project arrived yesterday. I ordered them in February but had to wait my turn behind some race teams who had also placed their orders in February for the 2022 season. They are stunning, well worth the wait & for me worth the not inconsiderable wedge

Those wheels will look great, especially with the black frame.

The wheels must be worth more than the bike.

The wheels must be worth more than the bike.
Taking into account the whopping 3% discount I successfully negotiated, they cost almost exactly what I paid for the bike

Cos I'm a tight northerner, I'd have got a set of five spokes from the ST4, but there's no denying, them dymags is special.

I looked into buying the Marchesini wheels (even buying a ST4s & breaking it) but in reality there's a bit of badge engineering going on & they aren't that light, they will end up about half the price of the Dymags & they will be at least 18 years old.
See what I did there? Man maths made me do it

As long as it works for you and the other half is none the wiser then all is good
Will look great once its done

I've got 5 spoke Marchesini wheels on my track bike project (yes, you vaguely remember it don't you?

)
I got them off Rich at Louigi Moto who used them on their TT race bike. They are considerably lighter than the standard road wheels but nowhere near as light as those Delicious Dymags. Top work mate.
a full titanium system next then
