Road cycle frame re-spray-where

Post by formula400 »

Right, potentially getting hold of a Trek domane frame in a 54, unfortunately it’s in grey and red (nasty colour)

I’d like to have it sprayed black with a Matt black finish and potentially the trek logos in grey or black, any idea where to go or who does this, addicted bikes have quite £700. That’s sanding, spraying black. Adding logos and then a 2k Matt lacquer

Is that the going rate or serious wedge???

I am guessing that. But is £700 the going rate or a bit high??? Don’t mind spending if it’s what it is

Have you considered getting it wrapped? Probably be a chunk of money cheaper

For example....

Each of our bespoke wraps start a £375. If you are bringing in a fully built bike there is also a £50 charge to strip and rebuild each bike.

No, they come in 2 colours, both sold out, news o wa not out till around August, found a 2021 frame, for £1600, then £700 painting make it £100 less, but it’s used frame in excellent condition in my choice of colour.

On a road bike I wouldn't expect to have any problems at all considering that it's used mostly on MTBs that are taking a battering on the trails.

My Whyte had got a couple of small blemishes where it's been hit by stones but the wrap had done its job of protecting the paint. 👍

I think it's a good viable option for changing colour

You could do it yourself. Matt black would be easy.
I've sprayed a bike frame before and after laquer it looked sound. Depends how close to perfect you want it I guess.

I don’t have the time or the desire to do that. Plus I don’t think I’d ever get it to a stage where I’d be happy with my work.

I have given up on the idea of getting the used frame and spraying it, found a new one for a good price, so have gone with that.
