Summary - stonkingly fast - torquey low down, then seems to turn into an IL4 at higher revs. Great dash - too much info for a shortish test ride TBH. The build quality seemed really good and nice finishing touches. Handling was precise and stable enough.
The engine was brilliant - if you like rev happy / speed hungry and caning a bike
Bad - the brakes were wooden. Kind of on or off. At higher speeds this wasn't an issue - at lower speeds you always felt you were going to lock the front.
Riding position - think comfortable 998s - slightly higher bars and lower seat - but not a tradition naked at all.
I completely forgot to use the quick shifter - which was my issue - however I didn't notice the loss of the few ms.
The suspension - initially, and mostly excellent - until a rounded a corner onto some really rough tarmac, and then it felt lie the suspension had totally locked up. ( you can adjust just about everything electronically - I just left it as standard). But most of he time it performed well.
Overall - great fun to ride. But I wouldn't want one - too urgent, too committed on the road (for me) and maybe no longer what I want from a motorcycle.
That said , I am not sure who would buy one - too retro for the young bucks and buckesses, not full on sports bike sexiness or cachet. And the more well heeled gentlefolk will probably be already at the BMW dealers or on their way to a Ducati franchise.
And a good learning for me - it costs more to get a Triumph services for oil etc than a Ducati
