To be fair to him, I think that was a reaction to the head of the UN food agency who had a go at him for being the richest bloke in the world. The (very ignorant) UN bloke said that 2% of Musks wealth would solve world hunger.

Musk replied ' If WFP (world food program) can describe on this twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.'

I'm also quite warming to him. He's on the spectrum but he is certainly a bit of a visionary and tends to back up his claims with his wallet.

Not really sure what he sees in Twitter mind you? But I guess that's why he's the richest bloke in the world and I'm very much looking forward to tomorrow payday

I neither like nor dislike him. I know some people think he's saint Elon and others won't buy Teslas, Starlink etc. simply 'cause his name's associated with them.

Can't deny that he's kicked over the anthill in more than one industry now though! Electric cars are now a mainstream thing and private companies can build reusable rockets which make NASA look a bit silly.

I mean, people fret about the missile programmes of North Korea or Iran. SpaceX, a private company, have the technology to put an object anywhere in the world within 45 mins. With a bit of lead up for sure though

I think what Elon was getting a with his ironic response to the WFP was you can’t eat money and show me a mechanism where “the World” can help alleviate poverty and hunger without actually lining the pockets of their corrupt third world masters.

As for Twitter they had to quickly erase a TON of shadow bans, so much so that many of the conservative commentators I follow suddenly acquired tens if not hundreds of thousands of followers. Almost as if someone flicked a switch….

The algorithms have now been locked down so that no pissed off employees can damage the platform out of spite. I am also surprised that Jack Dorsey (it would appear) had his hands tied during the censorship sagas (Trump ban, election fraud, Russia-gate scam, COVID origins, Hunter Biden laptop). All those things which have had a massive effect on world politics will suddenly be “allowed” to be discussed and we may finally discover the truth.

Discovering the 'truth' would be nice, but I would personally like all platforms, Twitter and all the rest, to be accountable for the 'truth' they publish, just like old-fashioned publishers. After all, 'truth' is an absolute defence against being sued for libel.

The only way to do that is for every opinion anyone ever wishes to express would have to be “fact checked” before they could even say it. Two consequences. 1. You would have to be confident in your fact checkers being impartial and 2. Each citizen who wishes to be allowed to participate would have to be verified. Ursula Von Der Leyan is (at the best of our corporate masters) championing biochip implants for everyone. No implant, no vaccine is the plan….

Yet old-fashioned newspapers manage to publish (and get sued occasionally). What they don't do is publish stuff from every crackpot in the world, if they publish (eg a letter) they check who it is from first, and get their lawyers to check it is not libelous. No biochips involved.

I think many people are similarly ambivalent. Nice when YOU want to expose your 'truth', not nice when someone else posts something you think is damaging and untrue.

It is a can of worms. But ignoring the moronic statements above, quite a key issue for the platform and the poster.

It is key for the platform provider because they seek immunity from prosecution for any content they carry which may be deemed illegal. They do this in order that they are not classified as a "publisher" i.e. a source of information rather than a mere vehicle for it.

So far so good, just delete any kiddy porn and, err, actually, now I come to think of it, is there anything else which should face auto delete? I was going to suggest say, graphic gory death etc. but as it happens, I think people should be able to see how fucking horrible death really is and not the Hollywood, Mystery Murder romantic version. Incitement to violence? Hmm. How would you define it precisely? I mean we've all seen the old "Michael Gove, a face you could punch all day" sort of comment. Is that incitement to violence?

Anyhow, I am sure someone will pop up and suggest other topics which should be auto banned. Not, I dare to suggest, glorifying Nazi Germany because unless you know what exactly the hard right (or hard left!) are proposing, how do you know what the danger is? By which I mean, history has a habit of repeating itself since people never really change.

The problem is that given this power of censorship for nominally good reason, the overwhelmingly left wing media have been censoring anything (or anyone!) they don't like while simultaneously promoting the government agenda. This rampant state authority propaganda machine has led this planet to the brink of WW3 since a corrupt government is interested only in personal profit and pandering to global corporations, also only interested in profit.

Right now the Biden administration is shitting its pants because a multi billionaire apparently has all the money he needs, a mind capable of creating more of it and is daring to support free speech. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they don't try and stamp down hard on Twitter while carefully trying to avoid damaging their own propaganda machine.

Oh and why this obsession with America? Because all of the tech giants and internet whizzbangery is run from California. Obviously...

I'm a huge fan of free speech (aren't we all). It keeps the pillocks, liars and nutters in plain sight. What I don't like is the notion is that everybody's pov is equal, meaning it deserves the same attention or, ffs, air-time and column inches. If you have something to say and it has merit then eventually it will be heard, like scientists and philosophers of old - use evidence, expertise and analysis if you like. Yeah you might have to break down some barriers and challenge accepted norms, that's how it works I'm afraid. Believe it or not, they thought they were being censored too, or at least not being listened to - you just have to try harder.
