Homda have created an online shrine to the Hornet in anticipation of revealing a new one.
I hope it's better than the new Hawk (which we're not getting anyway).
I do really like the look of the original, surprised I never bought one.

After seeing all that, I'm still no wiser. Waste of time.

Hopefully it will have a lot better build quality than the current CB650

Interestingly (or not) quite a few of the pics on that page show the early model having the same four pot Nissins that the Blade and SP1 got.
I'm 100% all the 600's in the UK at least got the twin pot sliders.

I don't see that they've got any choice but to put decent 4 pots on it, my GSXS 750 is it's direct competitor in most markets and has 4 pot Nissins, it won't sell with 2 pot sliders.

The original 600 from the late 90's had two pots in the UK.
But the pictures on that site of the late 90's bike have four pots.

When I was 17 I really really wanted a Hornet 250.
Went to look at one in Transit Motorcycles at York.
I was £500 short and they wouldn't budge, so the choice came down to a Suzuki Goose or a Honda Bros.
I rode the Honda home, paid £2800 iirc, it was on a G plate and only had 500km on the clock, it was mint, except for the inside of the tank that was rusty as fuck and kept blocking the carbs until I petsealed it.

Calling a Hornet a legend is reaching a bit. I always thought of them as a dull bike built down to a price. A commuter hack.
Maybe that's just my general dislike of Honda showing.

I love my honda but completely agree, just another UJM like the fazer, bandit and the mt-07....

They were a shopping bike.
But they moved the whole shopping bike scene forwards. Back in 1998 the only other real option was the 600 Blandit and the Hornetto was a fuck ton cooler... then came the Frasier.

New one is gonna be a parallel twin though I bet?

The engine in the drawing looks just like the existing 650 IL4.
I found an article earlier that says it's gonna get bored out to 750.
Why make a 1100 twin Hornet, when they already make the 1100 twin Hawk?

Yeah, fair point. Honda have the 650 IL4 they can wheel out, they already build it with the requisite clean exhaust stuff etc.

It'll be an updated CB650 (which is an updated 600 Hornet)

Was reading only last night that the GSXS 750 was the biggest seller in the under 1000cc category the end of 2020 I think it was. Presumably due to discounts. Proper good value

The 600 Bandit was slower, but I found it more engaging than the Hornet. The 900 was just slow compared to the 1200 Bandit.
