It's an unregistered French import in tolerable condition. It starts OK, the gears and brakes work as they should and all the electrics work. It's on the NOVA system and it's in for the MOT test it needs before I send the paperwork to the DVLA. It was on Ebay for £2.2K, I PXed my R1z for it as a straight swap, no money changed hands. I could probably have got a better bargain but the timing suited, especially in these extraordinary times.



Looking at the photo I'm pleased with how well I applied the bald wig that day.

1000cc --> 200cc that's one hell of a jump. But at least you can use full throttle 99% of the time.

Given what seems to be mad prices for baskect cases, I reckon you've done well there, enjoy!!

The R1z was only a 250cc. Basically a naked TZR250 1KT.

A tidy little mudplugger. Fun to be had.

Looks good in the picture , i remember riding green lanes on a KDX200 , nice size for gentle riding

If Big Tony is the owner, then no I haven't met him.

It's a DEP system, expansion chamber and silencer. There's a ding in the usual place on the expansion chamber, which means I can learn how to pop them out using compressed air and heat.

It passed it's MOT test, so off to the DVLA with the documents and the money.

I've started poking at it while the DVLA does the reg thing.

Needs: Fuel tap rebuild kit. Unsurprising because of it's age. It's not essential but I am mildly obsessive about 2T fuel systems. I like to be able to tank the tank off without hassle and as I drain the carb frequently I don't want it refilling.

The tank has a bit of rust inside so it's now filled with citric acid (mixed 30:1 weight :weight) and will soak overnight at shed temperature. Then it'll be rinsed repeated with water, blown out with compressed air and have a final swill round with kerosene. The kero leaves a slightly oily surface until it gets filled with petrol again.

I've not found any screaming horrors and no seized threads so far which is nice. I'd like to have seen some copper grease but that's a personal preference.

Who's good for chain and sprockets these days? Any particular makes to go for? Any to avoid? I assume Ebay is full of counterfeit sets.

Even better. With great trepidation and a 1/4" drive 13mm socket I tried the exhaust studs. And both came loose with no problems. They're now back on with lots of copper grease.

That's it pretty much ready to go, fluids checked, tyres checked, fuel system looked over, and all the various fasteners that might give grief have been tampered with.

Much pacing waiting for the registration and V5 to arrive.
