That puts into words very much why I got into racing bikes and sat on a start grid. That was my only desire back in the day, racing the Island.

Never knew the exact cause of Gus Scott's death until now. Hitting a marshal, who by all rights should never have been there, is a terribly pointless and random way to die.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

One of my slight regrets, I got my national licence so I could do the Manx but then never did it. Didn’t want to race it as such just wanted to tick the box.

From the other side of the Armco, I've spannered over there countless times.
You check everything, then you check it again,.then the rider goes out and you mentally go over all the lockwiring and R clips and gaffer tape you put on. You did put 3 tear offs not 2.
You look up at the timing board to see your rider has come through signpost. If it's a fuelling stop, then it's test the filler, new visor, tear offs, paddock stand, bump and go.
Last time I was there was 2003 when DJ was killed. We heard something big had happened, then we saw them packing stuff up even before it was announced, that really brought it home how fine a line it is.

Been over and spectated at many races over there, big respect to all the riders and flying marshals/doctors. Usually far more of a spectacle than any of my visits to the IOM. Another rider had broken down, but was safe. Inexplicably she decided to go over and speak to him, and that decision cost 2 lives.

‘Gus’ Scott died on lap two of Friday’s senior TT race at the exit of Kirk Michael village when he collided with a marshal.
The marshal, April Bolster, was crossing the track after assisting a rider who had stopped to make adjustments to his machine. Both rider and marshal were killed instantly.

I enjoy going over there for the Manx GP/Classic TT week & I've been to a few TT's.One of my mates raced it for 5 or 6 years,I told him he was mad going at race pace around the place,but we're all adults & know what we're getting into or avoiding.
