KTM Adventure 890R

Post by fatgit »

Hi
Got a new 890 Adventure R this week and only done 100 miles so far but early signs at positive.
My issue is the mirrors-they work well and are vibe free but I just don’t like the Mickey Mouse ears look.
However the RH mirror is a standard thread but has a kind of adaptor under it to raise them up and this is a left hand thread
The LH mirror is the opposite way round-the adaptor is standard thread but the mirror is a left hand thread.

Maybe to simply I think if you remove the adapter on each side the threads will be like Yamaha mirrors where the RH one is reverse thread.

Does that make sense?
Anybody know why?
If I’ve got this right it means you can’t fit a standard replacement set of mirrors that are both standard thread.
Just seems a bit weird.
Any thoughts or suggestions
Cheers

Congratulations first of all.

It's common on KTMs as that means the windblast doesn't loosen the mirrors.

Cheers so does that mean I can only use KTM or Yamaha mirrors or are there some adaptors?
I’ve looked on line but it’s fair to say I’m confused
Thanks

If there's one each of left and right hand threads, each side, doesn't that mean there will always be one that could loosen?

Surely a threaded bar is better than a violin?
