Atera Genio Pro ? Buzz rack ? Thule ? or....

Post by weeksy »

I still need a new rack.

I bought a Buzz rack e hornet 3 but sent back without fitting as I wasn’t keen on wheel wells, they seemed too wide and the wheels moved. Added to that the actual frame was huge! So storage would be a pain.

One of my big issues is spacing between bikes to stop them rubbing together.

All in, the best I’m finding is the Atera genio pro ? That has 21cm spacing and folds nicely.

The Atera STRADA E-bike M has great spacing @ 23cm but doesn’t fold so is bulky.

I worry a little about leaving racks on car when at centers so like to throw it in the car ideally.

This buzz rack looks nice enough, but again, the 20cm between bikes isn't quite as great as i ideally wanted.

The Thules i REALLY don't like their locking mechanism on the arms... it seems VERY tight to me and i'm sure they've done their research but i worry if i do it too tight i'm crushing the frame, too lose and i'm either falling off it's mount or maybe rubbing the frame.

Anything I’ve missed?

Our Atera rack doesn’t fold but still fits in the boot of the xtrail. I’d not be worried about leaving a rack on the car whist out riding as the Atera ones lock to the tow ball.

the Qashqai boot isn't massive and it's usually fully of tools, spares, wheels etc so putting the rack in the boot isn't generally an option, but the Genio pro could fit on the back seat effortlessly when parked if i were worried.

Have a BUZZ Rack Eazzy 2 bike folding rack which carries two Trek Fuel EX's no problem. Cannot fault it. Bought it from The Roof Box Company. Folds up compactly and is easy to carry. Soon to be passed onto a son.

Have just bought a BUZZ Rack E-Scorpion 2 bike folding rack which carries 2 eBikes no problem. Cannot fault this either, but it is of course a lot heavier and also folds compactly, can carry it but does have wheels if needed. Also bought from the Roof Box Company.

Both lock to the tow ball.

It does need to do 3 bikes ideally, but can do the 3rd as a part-time type thing as it'll only be once or twice in a given year tops.

Did you prefer the eazzy to clamp via strap or the claw of the Scorpion ?

Much prefer the e-Scorpion claws.
