I'll be spending a week in the Peak District in late March with t'other half and another couple. None of us is particularly fit, but we'll get a bit of walking and some e-cycling in. The other bloke and I also hope to hire motorcycles - SWM 650 singles, probably - and do a day's tour. For that we'd stick to roads, with maybe, just maybe, an easy green lane or two - but we don't want to fall off.

We'll be staying near Matlock.

Any advice/recommendations in relation to any of these ideas from those in the know?

Cycle the Monsal Trail and the Manifold Way, both are easy and scenic.
The Peaks used to be superb for motorcycling, but last time I went there were loads of speed cameras, a nice loop is from Matlock, through Via Gellia up the A515 (I think) to Bakewell nd then back down the A6.

But the weather could be shit in March.

Wetton Mill is worth looking up, always walkers and cyclist there.

Hassop station cafe worth a stop for food and a cycle along Monsal trail. If you want a bit of walking curbar edge has nice views and parking. Stanage edge is a bit more but fairly easy. Longstone estate is nice for a walk and Padley gorge local to it. Chatsworth is nice to visit indoor or outdoor. You can’t go wrong with most places there, we’re local and go most weeks or weekends for rides or walks

If you want some gentle green lanes let me know I’ll sort them out. Basically gravel roads

There’s plenty of lanes that are easy on road tyres, I’ll have a look and send some over

No motorcycling after all, as the hire place turned out not to have been doing it for a few years (despite still having a website https://www.speedycom.co.uk/motorcycle- ... al-gt.html saying they do).
Nevertheless we did some easy cycling along disused railway lines - Derwent section near Matlock, Monsal trail. Also walked the Manifold Way from Wetton Mill. And we visited the Chatsworth grounds. So we took in some of the recommendations. And the weather was glorious. Thanks, all.

Incidentally, biking Mecca seems to be Matlock Bath. Some very nice machines (all polished for the day out, it seemed) on display there.
