Mudguard Extenders
Following on from Trinity's cleaning thread (she's not touching anyone's nuts) has anyone fitted mudguard extenders, if you have do they stay stuck on, does the longer front mudguard effect the handling (longer mudguards on my Husky SM610 made it more unstable at speed)

Yes, on all my Rocksters.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 4:28 pm Following on from Trinity's cleaning thread (she's not touching anyone's nuts) has anyone fitted mudguard extenders, if you have do they stay stuck on, does the longer front mudguard effect the handling (longer mudguards on my Husky SM610 made it more unstable at speed)
Yes they stayed on (I also used the supplied screws, without any damage to the tyres whatsoever)
No - the handling was not affected in the slightest.

Re: Mudguard Extenders
I put one on my Tiger, I was worried it would fall off, didn't like the screws it came with so used black number plate screws.

1. Yes
2. Pyramid
3. Stays stuck, both on this and mt07. Cleaning it first is essential. How people expect it to stick to dirt is beyond me. No screws used.
4. No issues.

Re: Mudguard Extenders
1. Yes. Have them on VFR (RC30 forks, so shortie mudguard), Falco and KTM Duke 690 R
2. Pyramid.
3. Yes. But take care over fitment, follow instructions and I use screw and sticky pads
4. No problems at all. Wouldn't be without 'em.
What's stopping you? (apart from brakes, obvs...)

Re: Mudguard Extenders
I will probably get one. I have a pyramid hugger extension on my 690. I used the sticky pads. I cleaned the hugger properly and stuck it with loads of pads and then clamped it for 24 hrs. Still on there 2 years later.
Think I'll get a rad guard first but at somepoint will probably go for a fenda extender

Rad gaurd essential. Front fender extenders spoil the looks of a sexy naked I reckon. I did put one on the tracer, but not for long.

Re: Mudguard Extenders
Shudder.
I'll admit I put one on a GPZ900R back in the day,I too used screws as I didn't trust the sticky stuff. Look what happened Toprak last season when his mechanic fitted one and trusted the sticky stuff.
Anyway,I think I'd rather just clean the bike than use one now.

Re: Mudguard Extenders
Previous owner had stuck a Pyramid fender extender on the Tracer. It lasted for about 4k miles in my ownership, then came loose during a ride. Luckily no harm done, but I screwed it on after that. The Tracer 700 looks like a meccano set anyway, so a few more bits of metal don't hurt.

Re: Mudguard Extenders
Hate the look of them, but they do their job and help stop your rank cases getting that peppered look from stone and grit blasting!
I've successfully fitted a few using the sticky pads, but one I fitted after cleaning the mating surfaces and leaving it overnight to set, was gone by the time I got to work. Never heard it or felt it go either?
