Re: Show us what you learned on
Sadly,or perhaps not,I have no pics of my first bike,but it was a 1971 Suzuki 250 Hustler. Lika so.
By the time of my ownership the best had been taken from the bike,which was probably just as well since I learned on the fly and crashed my brains out. I remember being disappointed it struggled to show 80mph on the clock,but it was well tired by then.

Heck of a day and something that defined me from the age of 30 to now really.

Not my photo's, but stated on a 100 Speedfight;
And moved onto a CM 125 custom for a year before I took my full test;
Spent a week on the riding school's ER-5 and then away to the races

This was my first road legal bike. The mighty Suzuki GS125ES. Rode it for the 2 years I was allowed on L plates then when that expired and I hadn’t passed my test I carried on riding on a 250LC as I was illegal anyway so might as well have a bit of fun instead of a 125

red and white dt125r. Sadly no pictures of me on it in mullet, Brando jacket, seaboot socks and ridiculous Terminator-style Mx boots. You'll have to imagine
Really the only reason I owned it was because it was my brother's learner bike and he was desperate to off it to fund something better (a terrible succession of 'choppers') and I needed cheap wheels to get to work.

Although not actually my one, it was never like that, the stock Suzuki paint was dreadful ...
It was only a few years old, but between my brother and I we ruined it with neglect and mechanical incompetence.

Re: Show us what you learned on
I learned on a GS125 too. Well, I did my official on road learning on the driving school's GS125.
I learned the basics of clutch control etc. on my Mum's CB250, identical to this one.

Brings back so many memories, I absolutely loved the 400’s. Not sure if I’ve got any pics of the ones I had, I learnt my craft on the vfr400 NC30, I loved that bike, what I probably learnt the most with that bike was electrics, it never failed to fail

Some sort of Lambretta with everything non-essential removed, in a field. Then bought a Lambretta (TV175) for £30 and passed my test on it. (Rebored it as far as it would go, flowed it, stuck an Acillotti silencer on it etc etc. Got pulled for speeding *proud* on it and rode it to destruction).

Re: Show us what you learned on
But unfortunately the side panels had an unfortunate accident and the badges had to be replaced, and all I could get were 250 ones

Re: Show us what you learned on
I bet that's how you learned how engines work. My mate bought a new 250 G5 and it was a horror story.

Minsk 125, as demo'd by Richard Hammond...though not the actual one he rode.
The indicators didn't work at idle, which was a bit tricky on the test at junctions.

No embarrassing pictures - Fox Talbot was still a lad!
I learned on a BSA C12, a fairly crap 250cc machine of about 1957 vintage.

Re: Show us what you learned on
No pictures but I took my test on a cg125 but found it difficult to do u-turns as the bars would hit my knees.
Bought a tzr 125 to teach myself to ride on but it suffered from overheating and eventually seized. I knew nothing about bikes at the time.

I learned on a 1973 Honda CB250K, OTX3L. No pictures survive but it looked like this but not as shiny
It refused to start on the day of my bike test so I borrowed my mate's Suzuki Hustler. I passed

Re: Show us what you learned on
It was crap, but all I could afford. Saved hard and bought a GT185 at 17.
No loans for me.
