I actually don't mind it - I don't think it's any worse than 100% reliance on myopic on-field officials. And, statistically, I don't see that VAR gets it massively wrong. I feel a bit sorry when 'a goal' is VARd and everyone hangs about intil it's checked - because the celbrations are rather subdued.

It's still mainly "the rules" that are at fault because some of them are a bit stupid and a lot are still interpretative no matter how much time you have to review the incident.

Plus they still haven't really addressed some of the major issues in football - those that are the biggest turn-off and have nowt to do with VAR -
- effing and jeffing at officials
- falling over when you weren't fouled
- making a massive fuss when someone even goes near your face

Maybe they should make the players re-watch their own reactions on the big screen. It'd be like hearing your own recorded voice.

Go down the Rugby route....anyone who gobs off at the ref leaves the pitch for say 10 minutes. The managers will soon get the players to wind their necks in when they are down to 10 or 9 players at various points during the match and it would completely rule out "mobbing" officials

You could solve crowding refs, moaning and diving in 2-3 weekends. As you say sin bins or cards for any talking to the refs, diving etc.

But the issue is footballs ruling bodies don't want to sort it out cos it's part of the drama.

As long as you don't go down the rugby route when it comes to VAR. TMOs* are adding 20 minutes to two 40 minute halves while the ref stands there and watches repeats of an incident from multiple angles in slow motion, completely killing any momentum in what has become a stop/start game anyway.

To be fair many refs and TMOs are pretty quick, and a ref who makes up his own mind and asks a simple question (was the ball grounded, did he put a foot in touch) speeds it up massively. A poor ref who is uncertain was always going to be a poor ref, TMO or not.

Maybe I've been watching too much Pro14/URC, where poor refs seemto be the norm

VAR is enough to make me want to give up on watching live football. The last Brighton game I went to was ruined by great pauses whilst VAR was checked. By the time you can celebrate a goal ( either home or away) you just can't be arsed.
