What's your Spannering TV stuff go-to ? and what do you dislike ?
i've always been a fan of Fast and Loud along with Chasing Classic cars. Why ?
Well, Fast and Loud it's mouthy brash wankers building fast and effective cars, with a bit of banter, what's not to like.
CCC, well i love seeing some of the stuff that Wayne finds, locates, buys, but obviously you don't see much of the work.
The other one i often forget it Fantomworks, mostly because of his attention to detail and precision. It may be expensive, but hey, everything special is expensive in this world
The one thing that stands out though is that American cars are just so so much more impressive than the UK equivalents, they've got monster power, amazing looks, chrome, engines, style and poise... in the UK we had the Austin Allegro. Things like the Mustang, Cadillac, even the Chevrolets etc, all just fabulous looking things.

Said it before, but Bitchin' Rides. It's the same sort of stuff as Fast n' Loud but a bit more straight faced. Their projects start at $250,000 and they have a 2 year waiting list, which gives you an idea of the sorts of cars. They're like Garage Monkey but with less of the TV bollox and more doing it for real.
Lovely cars too!
WRT Yank cars - yeah they're a lot more in your face, but European ones are just really really good A McLaren is a hugely impressive piece of kit, lightyears ahead of a big V8 bruiser

Wheeler Dealers. I even like Mike.
I watch Edd's Workshop Diaries on Youtube.
I occasionally catch Fantom works, the main man comes across as a bit of an arrogant prick, but he knows his stuff. Also the final bills the customers get are eye watering!

I've tried watching Goblinworks mod shop.
Jesus, it's soo scripted. I guess the Septic stuff is too, but it's much more believable.

They did not First road car was in 1993 IIRC.
I think you need to look at some more European stuff from the 50-70s though!

Most Septic cars didn't have monster power, just monster engines.
200bhp from a 5l V8 isn't impressive.
What power they had is needed because they weigh 15 tons.

But Aston Martin, Jaguar, Bristol, Lotus, Elva, and more did.
Me, I rarely watch stuff like this, the music, scripting or personalities make me switch off quickly. I'm far too easily irritated.

Yeah it's proper comedy some of it, you can get an 8 litre Cadillac with 150bhpKungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 8:20 am Most Septic cars didn't have monster power, just monster engines.

TBF they are really good when you get one that's actually got power. I've driven a Corvette with the 450bhp 6-litre V8, that's almost pure comedy. I'd buy it for the engine alone, in fact I imagine many people do!

I've no doubt some of the Euro stuff was massively impressive, from Alfa to Ferrari and even a Jaguar or 3... However, they were not really mainstream were they, whereas some of the American market, lets say a 55 Chevy was an everyday car which has classic status and styling to my eyes.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 8:18 am They did not First road car was in 1993 IIRC.

I can't watch the telly stuff anymore, too overproduced, too much faux drama, too much terrible comedy.
So I mainly watch the YouTube stuff, much more satisfying.

Yeah that'll be the difference between countries bombed to hell in the 1940s and those not TBF that's a big part of why the Capri was launched, to sell those sorts of cars (roughly!) in Europe.weeksy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 8:23 am I've no doubt some of the Euro stuff was massively impressive, from Alfa to Ferrari and even a Jaguar or 3... I like a nice Capri... i love a MK2 escort more though.
One of the lads had a Vauxhall Viva which was a special and some sort of rally conversion thing.

Fast n loud went down the pan when Aaron left.
Bitchin' Rides is where it's at for me, Overhaulin’ was always a good watch, and American Hot Rod was good before Byod died.
I get most of my spanning fixes on youtube now, South Main Auto, Cutting Edge Engineering, Click Spring, Lamb Chops, RRC Restoration, Tavarish, SamCrac, AVE, Carhax, Colin Furze, Jennies Garage + 101 other 'maker' type channels
