BMW F900R
Just seen an advert on friendface for a 2nd hand F900R (I follow CMC), 21 plate, 2778 miles for £8,999.
My thoughts...
1. Thats cheap
2. What is a F900R?
Had a look on the BMW webshite, they don't look bad and you can have a council spec brand spanker for £8,570, cheaper than a new MT09.
Being a BMW there's an options list as long as your arm, active suspension, etc...
Seems cheap for a BMW?
The MCN reviews is good (not sure about the weight tho')

I'd certainly want to have a look at one before I bought an MT09 or similar.

Re: BMW F900R
Stylistically I hate what BMW are doing with most of their bikes lately. That's a generic, glazed over eyes kind of bike which doesn't doesn't encourage me to even look beyond the dull, dull styling to see if there actually is a decent bike underneath.
It's a commuter bike you'd use all year around and never care to wash,I could love a scooter more.
I think maybe I don't like it much.

That looks like duct tape on the headlight.
Is it duct tape on the headlight?

Re: BMW F900R
It's not the best pic, it looks much better in the 2021 Blue/White 'sports' colours.
I'm still reading, but the 'SE' version gets cornering ABS, Hill start, Traction control, some kind of slipper clutch type thing, quick shifter, a million riding modes, etc...
This SE is £7.5k, that's a proper cheap for a bike these days, innit?

Re: BMW F900R
Love how this review basically says "Buy the F900XR instead" without actually saying that.

Re: BMW F900R
My early grey engined POS F800S was one of the worse bikes I've ever owned. Never ran right from the moment I got it. Would cut out at will and nearly got me killed several times. Sold the POS to an Eastern EEuro biek buyer and felt dreadfully sorry for the poor sod who ended up with it!
By way of contrast, my later black engined F800R was fantastic. Really brilliant bike and once I had the ECU flashed it was elevated to outstanding. Absolutely faultless linear grunt. Was very sad to see it go. In my top 5 bikes I've ever owned.
So I'm quite interested to see what the remodel is like. Not that i'll ever own one mind...

Can't remember what colour engine my F800GS was and it never went wrong. I just disliked it intensely. The engine was bòooooooring. The throttle was more like a volume control for the induction noise. Verdict? Forgettable.Taipan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 8:47 pm My early grey engined POS F800S was one of the worse bikes I've ever owned. Never ran right from the moment I got it. That was my impression of a 900xr I had for a week, equally capable as it was dull. Can't remember what colour engine my F800GS was and it never went wrong. I just disliked it intensely. Re: BMW F900R
My wife has the F700GS, the previous version of the current 850/900 engine. It's been a while since I've ridden it, but I remember it being quite willing, but really really buzzy at higher revs.

Re: BMW F900R
Problem is all the tests I read the MT09 beats it so probably worth the extra. Same goes for the XR version. Bike did a test of a fully kitted XR that was about £2.5k more than the stock Tracer 9 they had and they picked the Tracer 9. They rated the Multi 950 over both but that was £4k more than the Tracer.

Re: BMW F900R
I hired an F850GS a while back. It was so woefully dull that I smashed up one of the panniers just to liven the journey up.
