MCN - Norton V4SV: New Norton’s new superbike unveiled
Norton have given us the first images and details of their redesigned flagship superbike, which they say is ‘all-new and re-engineered’ to be the ‘most luxurious British superbike ever created’. Now called the V4SV, the spec sheet looks pretty similar to the V4SS it replaces.
The bike still has the instantly recognisable polished aluminium frame, Brembo monobloc brakes with 330mm discs, Öhlins suspension and carbon bodywork as before. But while the 1200cc 72-degree V4 engine looks the same from the outside, the claimed power has dropped from around 200bhp to 185bhp @ 12,500rpm.
Torque is down too, from a claimed peak of 95.8lb.ft to 92.5lb.ft. And it comes 1000rpm sooner in the rev range. This drop in power and torque might suggest that new Norton thought the engine was overstressed in the old bike.
In terms of tech, the new V4 still has a keyless ignition, TFT dash (although it’s dropped an inch to 6in) and rear facing camera.
The Norton V4SV will be available in two colours, Manx silver with red and black pinstriping and red Oz aluminium wheels or Carbon finish complete with carbon-fibre BST wheels. There’s no word yet on price or availability but we’ll bring you the latest news as we get it.

I never caught up with who resurrected it after the previous thieving bastard pretty much made the Norton name a laughing stock.
Looks very pretty completely off trend, isn't a 700 twin sportsbike the current darling of the press?

Do you have to pay for it before it's assembled?

At least the old mob disassembled for freeLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 12:35 pm Do you have to pay for it before it's assembled?
Seriously, though, the old mob were a PR disaster beyond Ratner proportions. Overcoming those memories will be a difficult task.

Re-engineered is it?
I'l watch with casual interest while other more trusting types hand over their hard earned. Maybe it'll be like the Honda VFR after the horror of the VF.
It not bad looking, the real market is probably the USA since they still love their sportsbikes and anything Triumph/Norton.

Looks like mice won’t be able to nest in the exhaust, in storage anyway.

Yes it was a lot worse than a PR disaster!Potter wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 12:43 pmI can't believe none of them are in jail, Garner bankrupt, pensioners diddled out of their life savings, Skinner struck off because he 'allowed' customers bikes to be stripped and used elsewhere - that sounds like plain theft on both counts to me but I'm not a lawyer.Horse wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 2:10 pmAt least the old mob disassembled for freeLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 12:35 pm Do you have to pay for it before it's assembled?

The old bike declared unsafe for the roads.
You'd be stark raving mad to part with any money on one of these, last time all the magazines gushed about how great they were even though they were actually wank, so you can't even trust reviews even if they do actually make one that runs,

Re: MCN - Norton V4SV: New Norton’s new superbike unveiled
A lot of it will depend on how sound the original design was. From what I've been reading a lot of the problems have been caused by bought-in components from suppliers. I'd guess that given the financial pressure Norton were under, they were unlikely to be paying top dollar for the bits and bobs.
TVS are HUGE by comparison. The cash they are putting into Norton is a fraction of their resources and there's no reason to skimp on quality.

Yup, all of those aspects beggar belief. But I was concerned only with the current owners selling the 'new' bike.JackyJoll wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 3:19 pmYes it was a lot worse than a PR disaster!
