Fallen angels, boyhood heros, good guys gone bad ?

Post by weeksy »

Watching an interesting documentary last night about John Daly.

Pro golfer who made it massive VERY quickly and was plagued by drink issues, giving him what was in some ways not the career many thought he should have had with his ability.

He rekon'd he'd blown ITRO $55-60 million in casinos over the years. He was for me when i was golfing an aspiration at first as he came out of the reserve list to win th

The big man was a legend, so unorthodox. So long off the tee, but had a great touch around the greens. Two majors for a hard drinking, chain smoking gambling addict isn’t that bad all things considered. Followed JD, Seve and I think it was Paul Azinger round the Old Course in the first round of the Open in 95. The only time I’ve ever been to a golf tournament.

George Best. The first game I saw on telly was the 1968 European Cup Final. I remember asking my dad who the 3 were with long hair, bald head and no teeth ;D

Saw Bestie play live and all his kit :)

I've read and seen lots about behind the scenes. He seemed to have had a lot of fun.

I think arguably though he attained the status he should have and even being more dedicated he'd still not have reached greater heights?

He achieved God-Like status. But could have had a longer career. He didn't seem too bothered.

The Go Show. Antony Gobert. I'm pretty sure the party lifestyle zapped his true potential. Even today his life is a bit of a train crash. Last year he was beaten so badly doctors couldn't ID him.
