Twisted Oaks Bike park, Ipswich
Twisted Oaks Bike park, Ipswich
Mini review for a mini bike park....
https://twistedoaks.co.uk/v2/
This is a new bike park that's in its first year, it's not really very big in square acre terms, nor has it got much of an elevation drop if compared to BPW / FOD etc but that really doesn't matter.
They have managed to pack in an incredible amount of trail in a very small amount of space, the 'red' XC trail is about 4 miles and is packed with features, drops, jumps, berms, technical climbs etc, and then there's the 2 open areas with jump lines, and then there's jump lines going down through the woods, one with tables the other with gaps...big gaps on & off timber structures, the dual slalom and loads of other shorter trails with features like skinny's.
Me and MiniTaff spent a day there, rode most of the red xc twice & played for ages on the jumps, we even started clearing some of the smaller tables
for the cost (£17 for both of us) it's a cracking day out, it may not be a place that you drive 4 hours to get to, but if you're localish and want to practice jumping I would definitely recommend it, there is something for everyone.

Re: Twisted Oaks Bike park, Ipswich
I live near by, been over there once but it's not really my kind of thing, I prefer more of a out in the woods single track trail ride.
I prefer the Viking Trail at Tunstall is 20 miles north of Ipswich on Forestry land, but there is plenty of good trails around Ipswich I can let people have maps of if they're going to Twisted Oaks and fancy something other than a bike park.

Wouldn't mind you sharing these maps, missus and I like trails but not with impatient people wanting to mow us down....

Here you go, these are the two I do regularly, there's plenty more, about 3 hours riding on an ebike for an unfit 54 year old.v8-powered wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 11:50 amLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 11:25 am I prefer the Viking Trail at Tunstall is 20 miles north of Ipswich on Forestry land, but there is plenty of good trails around Ipswich I can let people have maps of if they're going to Twisted Oaks and fancy something other than a bike park.

Parking is fine, there's a small carpark at the bottom of the hill and a big one at the top, there's a campsite nearby at Bucklesham crossroads, I can't remember what it's called and I've no idea what it's like.

Time may play a factor in that as for the smaller races we're unlikely to do over-nighters and just make an early start type day of things, ride, race, drive..Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 10:35 amYou're welcome to pop round for a cup of tea, but your OCD would completely freak out at the state of my garageweeksy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 9:59 amAce matey... that'd be great to hook up for a chat.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 9:38 am I won't race but I'll pop over and see you if allowed with lockdowns etc.
