September Spain trip advice
Group of 5 of us suspended our ferry crossing to France last year due to Covid. Now re-arranged for September this year and we plan to ride from France into Spain.
My question is do you think accomodation will be ok to find or will the locals all be on staycation?
My other concern is the locals might think we're taking the piss travelling on bikes .. like moving Covid carriers or something?
(none of us have it btw!)

Re: September Spain trip advice
September will be fine as most of the French will have had their hols and it gets relatively quiet around then.
I don't think you'll have much bother with the covid thing. You need to flash your vaccine qr code about to eat in restaurants currently, that's about it really. Covid fear is variable depending on the region. Where I am (Charente) still fairly strict (mask wearing outdoors) but I was down in Tarn a few weeks ago and it was rather more relaxed (we never book accommodation in advance).
Getting out of France back to UK is a ballache, paperwork, tedious.

Thanks DefTrap, useful to hear from someone there. Prefer not to upset the locals.
Will we also have hassle returning to UK?

Well current regs France to UK if vaccinated
- PCR neg test within 3 days of departing France (there are lots of labs in France, walk-in, and it's currently free)
- book day2 test in UK
- submit passenger location form in the 48 hours before leaving France

Group of 5 bikes turned up at the campsite here yesterday and were welcomed just like all the other paying punters!Tarmacsurfer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 8:36 pm Group of 5 of us suspended our ferry crossing to France last year due to Covid. Cheers lads. I was just a bit paranoid and not sure if businesses would be glad of the custom or pissed off with us for travelling.

We've deffered our Spain trip twice now, we're going in October so not too worried Britany ferries stole our money and haven't offered to refund a penny so we had to go with it and re-book... twice. the chap renting us the villa in Sotosorento is happy we're going I think we usually pay cash! really looking forward to it.

Went Caen Portsmouth today. Bit of a palaver, used to be that the only good bit about ferries was that it was straightforward, they're really not cut out to check reams of paperwork on behalf of the gubbermint.
