Bike laid up. How to proceed

Post by Wscad »

In normal times, my bike gets laid up after the ride to the wall meet. It doesn’t come out of the garage till the clocks go forward.

These are not normal times and the bike hasn’t been out of the garage since late November 2019.

Both wheels are off the ground and every month I fire it up for 30 mins and run it up and down the gears.

Anything else I should be doing?

If it's not being used why not sell it and buy another when you once again need a bike?

Other than the list above,I'd have it on a battery manager/Optimate.

Due to work commitments & covid none of my bikes have really turned a wheel but I can’t bring myself to part with them.
I know I’ll get around to using them sooner or later, until then, clean, covered and battery optimised it is :)
I don’t bother starting them either, not until they will be ridden.

Clocks have gone forward and its sunny and warm, so I'm guessing you must have good reason for not riding it? Sounds like you're doing all the right storage things to me. I'd probably put it on a optimate or suchlike for a week out of every month...
