HAving a few debates on a new helmet for the big days out.

Checking last night and my Full Face was bought in Jan 2014, so 6 years old now, which i think is quite a bit for a helmet that has taken a few knocks into the floor along with being bashed about in the car, muddy, wet and horrible countless times.

So it's time to move it on and get something new.

Shortlist is
Leatt DBX 4.0

TLD Stages MIPS

Fox racing proframe

Bell Full 9 Fusion

Not sure on more or less venting being the answer, they're all DH certified so should be conforming to the same levels of safey.

Prices range from £170-£300 (Although you can get £500+ ones of course)

You wold have seen my STW post about mine ( which is 07, worn once, and stetted carefully. So it will get used again

TBH, I think the bike helmet manufacturers are taking the piss on full faces - compared to motorcycle gear / research , and the longevity / quality , the MTB full faces I have looked at a just polystyrene foam wrapped in ABS. And sometimes the can't even be bother to encase the foam.

Anyway , the last one looks fine ...
a) what is it?
b) does it match the bike?

If I was buying I would probably go SixSixOne - just because it will be used for a few days a year ...

In the end i spent more and more time running round in circles in my head and thought

"Well, i know Bell helmets fit my head nicely and are proper comfy"

I then did some Googling as on CRC the one i thought best was £299

But Merlin have it at £199

It gets 10/10 on just about every review https://www.mbr.co.uk/reviews/helmets/b ... er-dh-mips

Then Merlin gave me an extra £10 off for some reward points.... So it's a no brainer and ordered up :)

I have a 6 year old Bell Sanction that's been in the floor several times.

Aah, fairy nuff. I still haven't got round to buying one, sadly no rush at the moment either :(

Bike fitness is coming on well these last few weeks though, been putting a lot of miles in and sorting the odd upgrade for the bike too.

Was about to suggest the Bell.
You don't need the full level unless you want to compete in downhill.
Quite a few were in use in Les Arcs.
