I've got a new bike...

Bought it a few weeks ago now but haven't really had the chance to post up. It's a 2009 BMW R1200RT. Purchased for just under £5k with 24k miles on the clock. It doesn't have quite full service history, a couple of the annual services are missing but the bike looks to have been well looked after besides that. Very little corrosion for the age, has the right extras - top box, panniers, crash bars, cruise control, heated seats and grips, working ESA and electric screen.

The missus and I had planned a week in Wales with the missus going pillion because she couldn't take ride her own bike on the motorway which was a convenient excuse to buy the RT despite already having an 1150GSA and an Caponord ETV1000 in the garage. Have already ridden 1,500 miles on it, it's so easy to ride, surprisingly agile and very confidence-inspiring. The comfort level is superb, 6 hours riding to Wales and no aches anywhere, even better than the car.

:)

That weighs about the same as the volcano I've just ridden up.

Some form of BMW R is definitely on my list of vehicles to own one day.

Maybe not that one though. :D Bet it's comfy.

I think it's a good looking bike, but then I think the TDM850 (mkII) and 1150GSA are good looking bikes. :D

Well as you might have noticed on Facebook, the missus ended up riding her own bike to Wales so in the end we did avoid motorways and it was a cracking trip listening to her laughing like a window licker as she hunkered down on the tank trying to get as much speed up as possible to overtake cars and lorries.

It's not as heavy as it looks and I find the weight quite reassuring. Going back on to the MT-09 took some readjustment.

It's very comfy. For covering distance and all day riding it's like an armchair. :D

I've always liked them as a bike to ride, but never quite got around to owning one (yet). I hope it lasts you a long time mate. :D

Hired one of them in Italy a couple of years back. For covering miles, I couldn't fault it. Like a fat lass in a baggy dress, it hides its weight well and can shuffle on the dance floor. Gremlinette gave it a massive thumbs up as she almost fell asleep, such is the comfort.

On unmade, rock-strewn, sheer-drop farm tracks, it was possibly not the obvious choice, but it made it.
