Anyone ever used ContiAttack SM Evos?

Post by mangocrazy »

I'm intending to fit some sticky tyres to the Duke 690 in readiness for Pembrey, and was leaning towards ContiAttack SM Evos as the seem to be a) good and sticky and b) specifically formulated for light bikes with lower power outputs. Any experiences, pro or con?

It's currently got Metz M7RR (OE) tyres fitted in 120/70 and 160/60 and I've been really impressed with them, but well - you know. New tyres, innit?

Rennsports or BT012SS imho.

I might be a bit out of date.

You'll be arguing about Rennsports and Supercorsas soon. ;)

Not used but as you know they've come on a few of the 690 supermoto, because they suit lighter bikes etc in terms of carcass flex etc. I guess it's softer sidewalls.

Not used them myself but I know people rave about them

I’ve had a good few sets of cont trail attacks on my GSAs and they’ve always been absolutely fine. Although lately I’ve gravitated towards PR4s

In the absence of any negatives (or preferred alternatives) I think a pair of these wil be going on. Most supersports tyre tech is focussed on 200+bhp 200+kg 1000cc and up bikes, not 70bhp 150kg nakeds...

I used the old ContuForce SM tyres, they were fantastic, you could scrape the pegs on my Husky with them fitted, the front is very triangular though and not good for stability

Read good reports of them on the KTM forum, but not used them. I don't think they last long but you'll probably know that already. The M7s are probably more than good enough, but if you want sticky tyres the SM's should be very good.

Thanks for that. That does give me pause for thought. On a track day, no problem. For general usage maybe not.

Yeah, I have no quibble with the M7s. They've been excellent. For road use they're probably a better choice.
