New Mexico sheriff running for mayor interrupted by sex toy attached to drone, punched at campaign event
A New Mexico sheriff who is running for mayor of Albuquerque was interrupted while on stage at a campaign event by a flying drone with a sex toy attached to it and a man who punched him.
Bernalillo County Sheriff Manuel Gonzales’ campaign said the Democrat was unharmed and “will not be intimidated.”
The Albuquerque Journal reported that a video posted on Facebook shows Gonzales answering questions from the audience while standing on a stage at an events center when the drone bearing the sex toy started buzzing near the stage.
A sheriff’s office report said the owner of the event center grabbed the device and that 20-year-old Kaelan Ashby Dreyer unsuccessfully tried to grab it.
The report said Dreyer then turned his attention to Gonzales, swinging his fist and calling him a “tyrant.”
A deputy wrote that Dreyer punched Gonzales’ hands and was then removed from the event by deputies.
Gonzales said at a news conference on Wednesday that he believed Dreyer was with several companions and spotted someone standing on the other side of a fence who he believes was flying the drone.
“It became so distracting from the sound and everything I couldn’t really get my point across,” Gonzales said.
Dreyer has been charged with petty misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor resisting, evading or obstructing an officer. According to a deputy in the report, Dreyer said that he did not intend to hit Gonzales but was upset at the way Gonzales answered a question and intended to swing his fist through the air.
Gonzales suggested Wednesday that the stunt with the drone may have been sent by the rival campaign of incumbent Mayor Tim Keller, also a Democrat. Keller’s campaign condemned the stunt as “disruptive, rude and immature” and denied any involvement.
“To suggest we were behind it is pathetic and the kind of desperation that has marked Manny’s troubled campaign,” Keller campaign manager Neri Holguin said.
Dreyer denied to the Albuquerque Journal that he was working for Keller’s campaign and said he’s not a fan of the incumbent either. He declined to comment further.
Dreyer did not have a listed phone number where he could be reached by The Associated Press to comment or a listed attorney in court records to comment on his behalf.

Here's an idea that is intriguing, not sure whether it will catch on.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-57368211
In the opening to his ruling, Judge Benitez wrote: "Like the Swiss Army knife, the popular AR-15 rifle is a perfect combination of home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment. Good for both home and battle."
He said current California legislation banned "fairly ordinary, popular, modern rifles".
"This case is not about extraordinary weapons lying at the outer limits of Second Amendment protection. The banned 'assault weapons' are not bazookas, howitzers, or machine guns. Those arms are dangerous and solely useful for military purposes," the ruling said.
So, by implication, other guns are not dangerous?

Not sure of the relevance of hunting rifles to flying dildos?

"Justice Department officials have defended the law, saying that assault weapons were more dangerous and often used by criminals and in mass shootings."
So their theory is that the current laws (and the death penalty or several life sentences when convicted) aren't working to stop criminals illegally shooting people, so they'll make the tools they use illegal and then it's doubly illegal to do it and that will stop the criminals from doing criminal things.
Perhaps they should make drugs illegal so people don't take them illegally....oh...

Perhaps the dildo drone pilot was suggesting the Sheriff candidate go fuck himself? The alleged *thumping* appears to have actually been two blokes waving their arms about & their hands collided... altho with that said, I haven't seen the video of that moment.

What can you practically do with a knife that you can't do with a 3" blade?Jody wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 11:43 amSame thing happened in the UK a few years agoPotter wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 4:20 am The law banned assault type rifles and...

I'm not sure on your angle here? It almost looks like you're suggesting 'we' can carry a 3 inch blade with no handle??slowsider wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 3:20 pmWhat can you practically do with a knife that you can't do with a 3" blade?Jody wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 11:43 amSame thing happened in the UK a few years agoPotter wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 4:20 am The law banned assault type rifles and...

I had a pocket knife with a 2.5 inch blade taken off me at the ferry port 6 weeks ago, not due to it's length, but because it locked open. When you are able to lock a knife open, you can use the back side of it as a flat blade screwdriver or a lever. there's also no risk of it folding and taking your fingers off.

No, you said 'practical pocket knife'.
If you want a screwdriver, you can get multiblade types.
I had a pocket knife taken off me that was smaller than 2.5" because TSA thought I might hijack a plane with it

I had a 12mil spanner taken off me at airport security because "you might start undoing things with it". Lolz. Yeah I'd scoped the plane out beforehand, that 12mil bolt holds the wings on.
They let me keep the zipties though, not worried about my hostage taking capabilities.
A friend of mine, an actual BA pilot, had a torch taken off him as "you might whack someone with it".
I hope genuine terrorists put a bit more effort in.

To be fair though, terrorists did manage to hijack several planes on September 11th with box cutters and a couple of Leatherman multitoolsDefTrap wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 11:45 am I had a 12mil spanner taken off me at airport security because "you might start undoing things with it". I watched a bloke in his late 80s being relieved of 4 rounds of Camemberg from his bags at airport security, while his 20s grandson yelled at him "Granddad, I told you to leave the Camemberg!"
